Texas Abortion Law Teed Up For Supreme Court Review

Texas Abortion Law Teed Up For Supreme Court Review

Quote:
Abortion is back before the Supreme Court, and the justices could signal by the end of June whether they are likely to take up the biggest case on the hot-button subject in nearly a quarter-century.

If the court steps in, the hearing and the eventual ruling would come amid the 2016 presidential campaign.

The court is considering an emergency appeal from abortion providers in Texas, who want the justices to block two provisions of a state law that already has forced the closure of roughly half the licensed abortion clinics in the state. Ten of the remaining 19 clinics will have to shut their doors by July 1, without an order from the Supreme Court.

The Texas law is among a wave of state measures in recent years that have placed restrictions on when in a pregnancy abortions may be performed, imposed limits on abortions using drugs instead of surgery and increased standards for clinics and the doctors who work in them.

The Texas case involves the last of these categories. The provisions at issue require clinics to meet hospital-like surgical standards and also call on doctors who work in the clinics to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital. Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry signed the law in 2013 when he was the state's governor.
These anti-women laws are religiously motivated by a cult. There is no where in the Christian bible where Christ is against abortion and SEVERAL places in the Christian bible where GOD is for abortion.

This anti-woman culture forces unsafe abortions. NO one can tell a person WHEN they can have a child, HOW MANY children they must have nor by WHOM they must have it. That's an oppressive government. These anti-women laws from the right wing religious cult are forcing unsafe abortions. These are heinous crimes from a religious fanatical group in our nation.

Quote:
Estimates of the number of illegal abortions in the United States during the 1950s and 1960s range from 200,000 to 1.2 million per year. Prior to Roe v. Wade, as many as 5,000 American women died annually as a direct result of unsafe abortions.

Today, abortion is one of the most commonly performed clinical procedures in the United States, and the death rate from abortion is extremely low: 0.6 per 100,000 procedures, according to the World Health Organization.

Legalization of abortion allows women to obtain timely abortions, thereby reducing the risk of complications. In 1970, one in four abortions in the United States took place at or after 13 weeks gestation. In 2009, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, almost 92 percent of abortions were performed within the first trimester (64 percent were performed at under eight weeks gestation). Few abortions (7 percent) were performed at 14–20 weeks’ gestation, and even fewer (1.3 percent) were performed greater than 21 weeks gestation.

The World Health Organization defines unsafe abortion as a procedure for terminating a pregnancy that is performed by an individual lacking the necessary skills, or in an environment that does not conform to minimal medical standards, or both. Unsafe abortion is common in places where abortion is illegal. Nearly half of all abortions worldwide are unsafe, and nearly all unsafe abortions (98 percent) occur in developing countries. In countries where abortion remains unsafe, it is a leading cause of maternal mortality.

Highly restrictive abortion laws are not associated with lower abortion rates. For example, as Guttmacher Institute explains, the abortion rate is 29 per 1,000 women of childbearing age in Africa, and 32 per 1,000 in Latin America — regions in which abortion is illegal under most circumstances in the majority of countries. The rate is 12 per 1,000 in Western Europe, where abortion is generally permitted on broad grounds.
It's not about pro-life when women lose their lives in desperate acts.

Think this will cause the destruction of the anti-choice campaign? I think we're seeing the hate culture crumbling.

The Texas case should have resolved summarily already but has cost millions of dollars already in legal fees. These frivolous law(s) are why the judicial banch exists. See the docket linked below.
Whole Woman's Health, et al., v. Hellerstedt, Texas DHS., et al. (15-274)

I met with Antonin Scalia privately face-to-face Feb. 26, 2015 in Arkansas and realized we will soon face either re-configuring SCOTUS or revolution. States like Texas and Arkansas now face "ignoring" the Union of Corporate America and disregarding ALL SCOTUS 4/5 splits conflicting with State law(s). There would be no need for violence and violence would not resolve anything. The moral "Will of the People" must not now be ignored because of the judicial FIAT(s) of five or less.
U.S. Courts are obviously dishonorable and have been since 1927 when democracy was repealed by voters after WWI. Terrors caused by a world at war then caused individual citizens to gladly surrendered democracy to the U. S. Corporate Oligarchy to keep them safer.

There should be no life-long posts and there must be one Representative for every 75K voters. No public servant, (Congress, SCOTUS, POTUS), should remain beyond 75.

I HATE the corporate "America" that overthrew the United States.
The Texas law should not survive but should never have been necessary.

Elective killing any human, -even fetal, should always have been criminal. PERIOD!

Before 12-weeks, -aborting gestation should be paid for as birth control or as female healthcare by the government if needed due to income.

The choice should be encouraged early but allowed later if absolutely necessary and not for trivial rational like in most of the E.U. today.
