Unfortunately, thats the breaks. We don't always get the results we want for ourselves with our elections either, yet to sit back and espouse a demcratic principle, the risks are that you don't always get what you want.

The thing is, are the Egyptians who have lived in the country for a long time, going to want a Muslim-run government like Iran and the old Taliban-run Afghanistan government?

If so, the Americans should steer clear of Egypt for when they are touring the Pyramids and the Sphinx, some Egyptian official will arrest them and accuse them of spying, just like what Iran does.

What kind of post-Mubarak government do the protesters want?

The Muslim Brotherhood has the support of only abut 20% of the population there. They are not looking for a religiously led government at all. They want freedom and opportunity.

We won't. We'll have another Islamist government in place. The Muslim Brotherhood has already threatened to pull out of talks. They will try to extort their way in. You can't stop Islamic scum. This isn't some drive for democracy (those some sincerely believe it is). This is a coup with the MB behind it.

I hope I'm wrong.

You say that they won't with such passion and certainty leighredf. I do hope you're wrong so lets just wait and see.

You know Tables is right leighredf, the Mulsim Brotherhood don't want Islamic state. Madder of fact the Muslim Brotherhood are hated by extream Islamists. The Muslims over there respect the Chirstians as much the Chirstians respect the Muslims. So Waitingtables is right when she state that possibility of an Islamic state is insignificant or non existent. So Leighredf stop listening to right wing radio and fox news. I say that because they are pushing this fear or really lie of an Islamic State.

Wow, I feel so much better about the Middle East knowing that WT states that the possibility of an Islamic state is insignificant. The whole country can sleep better at night. I just sent an email to the White House (and yes, I actually did) pasting this post and telling them not to worry any more.

How about quit being obsessed with FoxNews and talk radio (I don't watch television news at all, and listen to FM radio)? What's the matter, Sean Hannity turned down your offer to blow him? The only thing I like about FoxNews is it generates the shrill whining from the "progressive" scumbags who provide its best p.r. Madder of fact you need to quit pretending to be some dumbass.

Now, if you read educated articles, there are mentions that the State Department is not discounting the possibility of the rise of an Islamic state (will you conced that hey might be smarter than WT, probably not, but perhaps?) But, the belief is that Egypt will probably end up like Turkey has at it has shifted somewhat away from the West due to an increased Islamic presence in government: less friendly to the U.S. but not unfriendly.

The reason many Middle East experts believe that Egypt will not become an Islamist state is the military. The military has benefited tremendously from the Egypt-Israeli peace treaty. The military officers have a huge personal interest in avoiding an Islamic state. But, on the down side, polling data indicates that younger Egyptians are very anti-Israel and pro-Islam, and those men are the ones who fill the lower ranks of the military.

The Muslim Brotherhood has a great p.r. machine that is well-known to the state department. They aren't Al Qaeda, but they aren't this kumbaya "we love the world" agency that you seem to suggest.

Here's the email I sent to the White House:

Dear President Obama:

Waitingtables, a poster on www.defendingthetruth.com, has opined that the United States has nothing to fear in the Egyptian crisis because there is little or no chance of an Islamist state arising in Egypt.

I would advocate a complete cessation to any State Department activities relating to minimizing this risk, as it has now been declared a non-risk.

Her opinion is particularly convincing because she does not watch FoxNews or listen to talk radio.

Thank you very much,

Respectfully,

(My Name)

What's wrong with you leighredf? You didn't even read the article about how the Muslim Brotherhood have rejected calls by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei for an Islamic Revolution. Here's a picture of Chirstians protecting Muslim doing prayers. And what's amazing leighredf is that the Muslim did the same thing while the Chirstians were praying. So stop with the fear already, be more optimistic and move on because you're scaring yourself.
