War on Drugs - Time to Surrender?

Bad news no matter how you look at it. What are the options?

The most embarrassing graph in American drug policy

I read an article by William F. Buckley, this had to be 15 or 20 years ago, about the pointlessness of the War on Drugs. There was not a greater stalwart of conservatism or a greater intellectual than Buckley.

Never was a "WAR" on Drugs.

There was law enforcment turning a blind eye.

If there were a war on Drugs.. DEALERS would be executed for Treason.

Yes, he is missed. Even those who greatly disagreed with him respected him. He was able to advance his positions without ever resorting to insults or belittling his "opponents" and never used anything harsher than a sharp wit and a great sense of humor.

Decriminalization is the way to go.

But LEO's make tons of money from catching folks with drugs who are never even charged. Confiscate any cash and vehicle, let the people walk. Lots of money all around in this war.

Time to declare victory and move on. Our rights have been trampled enough in this 'war'.

There sure as hell was tons of money spent on what a whole series of governments have called the war on drugs.

That's just worse than stupid, but I'm sure there are a number of third-world shitholes where your idea is government policy.
