If there is something wrong with the country and the constitution, I think you can find it under the heading "Campaign Funding".
Imagine if you ran a business, and you had buyers working for you.
Would you pay those buyers well? Or would you save money, pay them crap, and encourage them to earn their living with kickbacks from suppliers?
Which course would be best in the long run?
It appears to me that a company whose buyers depended on kickbacks from suppliers, would look a whole lot like a government, trying to keep people happy, not necessarily focusing on the real issues.
