Party or country?

How many people care more about their political party then, America, this country?

It's race against race, women against men, rich against poor, old against young and some poor souls don't even know who they are or what they are!!

Well in fact every free man and free woman is individualist, materialist and rationalist, who puts freedom and truth above all else in this world, including life, and organizes his or her life according to particular religion or philosophy, that is a set of guiding principles of life, whether explicit or implicit. Every free man and every free woman is selfish and this is good for him or her and in consequence good for everyone else: if everyone takes care of himself or herself, there no need for anyone to interfere.

Party first. That's what we the people have become. Our lawmakers do NOT listen to their constituents. Most won't even pick up the phone or answer an email. There are people in our communities, neighborhoods and YES, even on DTT who actually arrange their lives around their political party platforms. They refuse to listen/watch media who take a differenct stance. They refuse to go to a church that leans too far one way or another. They refuse to do business with companies who stand for a political side. They can't even have a conversation with someone who has been a life-long friend because politics gets in the way.
Families are torn apart. Fear is running rampant.
I have a very dear friend who hates the Obamas. I dearly love this lady, but this morning while we were walking and talking about good books to read, she said "Well, I've got some suggestions. I KNOW you're going to want to read the new Obama books. I hear they're getting paid at least 8 figures for....nothing."
Okay. We all know that every president and some first ladies write books when their WH days are over, so why shouldn't the Obamas? Why the insult? Why the disgust?
But this is where we are. It's hearbreaking.
Thanks from iolo, RNG and Daws77

LOL, so the woman put you off with her political views? Did that tear you apart...LOL. Why would politics get in the way of retaining a life long friend? I have several friends who are Democrats and we discuss politics without letting it get in the way of our friendship. We simply agree to disagree. Although, I must admit that the number of Democratic friends is getting smaller. Not because of me but, because of the Democratic Party itself. They're simply not buying into the Liberal dogma anymore.

Wow. You just put your spin on everything--fact or fiction. My friend is a forever friend and I think I stated that I love her dearly. Obviously the point went zooming OVER your little pointed head.
We live in a very conservative community/state. If I got offended at all the Obama-hate we wouldn't have a social life--a church life--a volunteer life or family life. I come from a long line of conservatives....Texas conservatives.
The POINT was/is that party loyalty has colored every part of our daily lives, including friends and family--church and every day decision making. The point I was attempting to make is WHY do we continue to question what the Obamas do, even when they follow the same path that other presidents have taken. What's the big deal about the Obamas writing books and getting 7 figures for doing so?
We all know Trump will do the same. All past presidents have done the same, but for some reason the resentment toward the Obamas morphs into outrage.
Sorry--but I just don't get it and it's frustrating.

It is difficult to be friends with someone who is raving mad, and bossy with it. The Brexiteers over here are only a pale imitation of you weirdoes, but they are totally determined to abolish law, democracy and free speech. Difficult to love!

(I don't know, in a general way,) but I've watched Obama for eight years, and read lots about his early life.......why waste 25 bucks, I feel the same way about any president that I've lived through their terms four or eight years....I know enough about them.

We don't have to worry much about Party choices any more. The democrats are dissolving past the point of being viable as a national party.
Thanks from coke
