What does a Ph.D. have to do with anything or their opinions?

So when you have a pain in your shoulder I'm sure you go see your accountant instead of a medical doctor, after what does an M.D. have to do with anything medical?
Thanks from Clara007

What is a greenhouse gas? How does it affect global climate? How has the amount of greenhouse gas in our atmosphere changed over the last 150 years? What tests can be done to differentiate naturally produced greenhouse gases vs. man made ones?

Are these things "obvious" to you? You don't think you need any kind of specialized education to even BEGIN to answer those questions?

Oh Jimmy---I know I'm going to regret having a conversation with you....but sometimes I just can't resist.
Apparently (and I don't know why) you hate Google or any/all search engines, but (and I've told you this before but you aren't paying attention) SEARCH engines are our friends.

Step 1: Type in a few words like 'how to become a climate scientist' in your browser*.
Step 2: Choose one of the topics that pops up.
Step 3: Click on said topic
Step 4: Read ALL THE BIG words in said article--and YES! There will be B.I.G. words because TRUMP didn't write them
Step 5: Report back to us. Let us know what you found.

*Browser: A little rectangular box WAAAAY at the top of your computer screen.

More than likely you'll see something like this: To become a climatologist you should probably start with a BS in Physics. Once you've got a BS in Physics, study climatology in grad school. Now, here's where it gets tricky, Little Jimmy.
GRAD school is a school that awards advanced academic degrees which focus on professional disciplines or professions/careers. A very smart person (obviously NOT Trump) can get a Masters degree and then a Doctorate in various fields of study....then VOILA! a scientist who works with other NERDY scientists, is BORN.
Their job is to collect data from all sorts of places and things like technology from satellites and radar--temperature, barometric pressure, wind speed, and humidity-- physical samples including ancient mud and ice cores which contain chemical clues about the weather in previous decades, centuries, and millennia.
Because they can have a significant impact on climate, they also pay close attention to oceans—their temperatures, depths, currents, and salinity are of special interest—and volcanoes, which can alter the atmosphere when they erupt.

NOW see. Isn't science fun? I challenge you, Jimmy. Seek and ye shall find.
Thanks from RNG

More than a few people glorify the so called PHD elitist status. When I was young my Dad had a friend who had a Doctor of Education Degree and got published, he insisted that we all call him Doctor even when he came over for Sunday dinner. High falutin' PHD's need to be knocked down more than a peg or two.
