Big surprise, Trump backpedals again

No need for full border wall, Trump says

Quote:
President Trump, who made the building of a wall along the border with Mexico a central promise of his campaign, significantly scaled back the pledge Thursday.

"You don't need 2,000 miles of wall because you have a lot of natural barriers," Trump said to reporters on Air Force 1 during his flight to Paris.

"You have mountains. You have some rivers that are violent and vicious. You have some areas that are so far away that you don't really have people crossing. So you don't need that."

"You'll need anywhere from 700 to 900 miles," he said.

About 600 miles of the southern border already are protected by walls, fences or other barriers. It was not clear from Trump's remarks if the figure he cited referred to new border protections or included those already in existence, but he appeared to suggest that fixing current border fences would count against the total he had in mind.
Start of RW apologist whining in 3 ... 2 ... 1.

THEN...FOR THE LOVE of GOD....why didn't he just say that: We will repair and EXTEND the wall.

Was that so hard?? Why must he lie and exaggerate when it's not necessary??
His supporters would have LOVED that statement just as much....so why?

Another TDS sufferer with bad/selective memory falls for regurgitated fake news to make him sound as if he is backpedaling.

Trump had said even before the election that the entire border will be be walled. He said some might just have a fence. Deranged idiots made fun of him then and said he was backing down.

Look, here is an article back in 2016 of Trump talking about the same "vicious rivers" that you article talks about. Please either get a memory or at least fact check on what he said when.

Trump Doesn't Need A Full Wall Thanks To 'Vic | The Daily Caller

And DHS also already said the same damn thing back in April.

And they believe all that crap because Trump can do no wrong. They support the liar and thief regardless of his criminality and basically evil nature.

He lied to them and all they do is dodge, deflect and make excuses. They love being lied to.

How twisted do you have to be to love being lied to?

For the love of God, it is campaign rhetoric, everyone does it, but people such as yourself only hang on to every word Trump said or did not say. Donald Trump was the LAST candidate to propose a wall and he never said a contiguous wall - I've told you that several times and you ran from it each time. Other Republican candidates and even Hillary wanted a damn wall until Trump said it and then you people went deranged and it is all TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP.

Quote:
At a rally in Cleveland, likely Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton bemoaned all the talk among Republicans about building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border to keep illegal immigrants out of the country.

"Don't let anybody tell you we can't make it in America anymore. We can, we are and we will," Clinton said. "But in order to do that, we can't be talking about building walls or turning the clock back."

However, just four months ago, Clinton was singing a different tune. At a New Hampshire event in November, she was asked what she thought about "securing the Mexican border with some of the illegal immigrants that come in -- just wondering."

Clinton's answer was: "Well, look. I voted numerous times when I was a senator to spend money to build a barrier to try to prevent illegal immigrants from coming in. And I do think you have to control your borders."

Liberal commentator David Sirota tweeted the conflicting statements and asked: "Is Hillary Clinton for building a wall or against building a wall? I can’t figure it out. Can you?"

If her comments are a bit hard to square, take a look at what Clinton was saying about securing the border in 2008, when she was running against Barack Obama for her party’s nomination.

At one Democratic debate, Clinton was asked, "Would you commit tonight that you would finish the fence and speed up the construction?" The question referred to legislation that Clinton voted for in 2006, the Secure Fence Act, which was supposed to result in 700 miles of two-layer fencing along the U.S.-Mexico border, as well as other enhancements to protect the border.

Her answer was about as wishy-washy as you can get. "Both Obama and I voted for that as part of the immigration debate," she said, but then added, "We were voting for the possibility that where it was appropriate and made sense, it would be considered."

Voting for the possibility that it would be considered?

Never mind that the bill was pretty emphatic that the fence would be built in two years’ time, which of course didn't happen.

At one time, however, Hillary Clinton sounded almost Trumpian on the issue. In 2005, she said: “I am adamantly against illegal immigrants. ... Clearly, we have to make some tough decisions as a country, and one of them ought to be coming up with a much better entry-and-exit system so that if we’re going to let people in for the work that otherwise would not be done, let’s have a system that keeps track of them.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds." By that measure, Hillary Clinton's mind is pretty darn big.

A) (note, I'm not using numbers because if I got up to 8 things he'd accuse me of plagarism.) Clinton wasn't speaking of a 30' wall the whole length of the border.

In July 2009, an editorial in Investor's Business Daily claimed that physicist Stephen Hawking "wouldn't have a chance in the U.K., where the [British] National Health Service (NHS) would say the life of this brilliant man, because of his physical handicaps, is essentially worthless."[12] Hawking has always lived in the United Kingdom and receives his medical care from the NHS. IBD later removed the editorial's reference to Hawking in its online version and appended an "Editor's Note" which said, "This version corrects the original editorial which implied that physicist Stephen Hawking, a professor at the University of Cambridge, did not live in the UK."[13][14] Hawking himself responded, "I wouldn't be here today if it were not for the NHS. I have received a large amount of high-quality treatment without which I would not have survived."[15]
Great fake news site.

There has never been a need for a continuous Wall. That is just another made up argument the Liberals need to justify their argument against building a Wall. As the Border Patrol has noted, the double-Wall, and surveillance equipment is forcing illegals to cross 3 to 5 hundred miles east of CA.
