That's the free market.

That went away when people sold cherry flavored anti-freeze as medicine for children, and the children died.

That's when the big bad government intervened and said "at least prove that something isn't toxic before you sell it as medicine"

And there goes the free market.....

Do you really want a free market in medicine?
Should Caveat Emptor be the rule when you have a sick child?
No, those were unregulated snake oil salesmen. If you jump into the modern age of medical regulations, the free market doesn't exist. Never has!

Here's what Google says: An open market is an economic system with no barriers to free market activity. What do you say it is?? Then we'll talk--maybe.
Is auto insurance subject to the open market? Are they allowed to advertise? Are they allowed interstate sales? Are they subject to open competition?
If you don't know what a naturally functioning free market is by now, we have nothing in common to discuss. You can go back to reading Dick & Jane to your class.

A true "free market" has never existed in this country....But, what we have today is very far from a free market....It always boils down to the issue of "what is enough"...Should the markets be taxed??...Licensed??...maybe, but how much??...At what point do taxes and regulations infringe and cripple the market, resulting in "crony capitalism"... and a state economy??.....This has become the problem with health insurance

The whole idea of the ACA was that it was designed to fail....It would suck millions of new dependents into an economically unsound concept and then when it started to fail, those dependent on the entitlement would become political pawns....Forcing the concept of "single Payer Health-care" being the only viable solution.....It was a lie...it is a fraud foisted on the gullible American people, intended to force more government control over their private lives...

Fine with me. Obviously you don't know what a free market is either.

I'm happy to go back to reading Dick and Jane. It's a lot more interesting than discussing stuff with you.

Quotes from Fun with Dick and Jane--1977:

"Jane Harper: Interesting that the only two jobs you think I am qualified for are a secretary and a prostitute.
Dick Harper: You're not qualified to be a secretary."

"Jane Harper: We might be in a little bit of a pickle, Dick." (That reminded me of Trump)
