I quoted the regulation from a military base manual, but it apparently wasn't comprehensible for some, so I figured that even the most seriously afflicted among the TDS sufferers should believe Snopes since they write in Leftyspeak.
And of course your pomposity makes you the logical one to issue rulings on which Snopes stories are correct and which are not.

Yup! You are all of that indeed, in spades!

#1. You are an ignorant little self-righteous turd, sorely afflicted by the Dunning-Kruger Effect, with a grossly inflated opinion of your own knowledge and competence.
Presidential Salutes
Federal statutes specifying flag protocol limited the right to salute the flag to those currently serving or veterans who have previously served in the military, when in uniform. That law was amended in 2008 to permit veterans to render military salutes to the flag even when not in uniform. The only exception is the sitting president, because he is also Commander-in-Chief of our nation's military.

#2. Your reading comprehension is so abysmal, you are just arguing with your own strawman. Nobody has said that the TrumpsterFire should have saluted the flag. Nowhere in the OP is that stated in any way, moron. You just missed the point entirely.

The issue is the hypocrisy of the TrumpsterFire not honoring the flag or the Retreat ceremony in the slightest, while at the same time carrying on about how he thinks that it is disrespecting the flag when athletes kneel during the Anthem as a silent peaceful protest against the rampant racial injustices in America and specifically the many cases of unjustifiable murders of black men by racist cops.

It was mentioned peripherally as part of the military traditions, but nowhere did anyone say that it was something that the orange spill on aisle 1600 should have done. You missed the point entirely, you poor confused rightwingnut retard.

All of the relevant parts of the OP....
"This week Donald Trump failed to stand at attention during a military ceremony. He just sat around talking and telling jokes. Trump was doing an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, sitting in a hangar used by the Pennsylvania Air National Guard. A bugle began playing “Retreat,” music marking the end of the day and, often, the lowering of the flag. The military tradition is that when you hear it, you rise and put your hand on your heart. Or salute. Trump kept sitting and talking. He joked to the crowd that the bugle was in honor of Hannity’s ratings. Well, maybe he had no idea what “Retreat” was. And to be fair, only people outdoors are really obliged to stand for the ceremony. But if you’re a president who went to a military high school, sitting in a military facility, near people who suddenly get to their feet, there ought to be an inkling that some attention should be paid. The bugle incident is definitely fair game, since Trump’s been on a rampage against black National Football League players who kneel during the national anthem. Which is worse, people? Athletes staging a somber protest about racial injustice or a president sitting around joshing during a ceremony about the flag?"

Good, I was hoping you would bring that up. Now when all you and all the TDS sufferers finally admit that Trump is your legitimate and duly elected President, you may have a point. Other than that, you and all the Trump-bashers here are nothing more than hypocrites.

TDS sufferers tend to wear Trump goggles, which really impedes reading comprehension and reasoning. Taking a bit in fake news to fuel their TDS insanity and then to deny it when the intentional misdirect is pointed out. I've isolated the paragraph and highlighted the word "salute" to help you.

The entire paragraph is purposely constructed to imply that Trump should have stood up, and either put his hand on his heart or saluted the flag which he can't even see. He was not obligated to react to in any way during the Retreat Ceremony.

The article is a hit piece designed to fuel the anger of TDS sufferers. It is fake news. Yellow Journalism. Propaganda. Seemingly, it appears to have worked especially well on you.
Thanks from Hashtag

"Imply"? That's just your usual crackpot fraudulent assumptions and mis-interpretations, moron. Nobody said that the tRump was supposed to salute. The article is pointing out the glaring hypocrisy of the TrumpsterFire in attacking the black athletes who are protesting the rampant racist injustice and murder under the color of the law, while showing no real respect for the flag himself.

No civilians, like the players or spectators at a football game, are "obligated to react to in any way during the" playing of the national anthem. And that includes standing or doing anything else.
