The Year Of Trump Has Laid Bare The US Constitution's Serious Flaws

In 2017 we saw with new clarity that the strength of the US constitution depends entirely on the willingness of those charged with enforcing it to do their duty. And today’s Republicans refuse to fulfill that obligation. They, like Trump, are without shame.

This was a fatal oversight by Hamilton, James Madison and their fellow framers of the constitution.

They did not reckon on a partisanship so intense it would blind elected representatives to the national interest – so that they would, repeatedly, put party ahead of country. The founders did not conceive of a force like today’s Republican party, willing to indulge a president nakedly hostile to ideals Americans once held sacred.

The Constitution wasn't much immediate help to those victimised under the McCarthy Terror either, was it?

You don't like McCarthy because he pointed out all the Soviet spies in the US government.

There would be plenty of work for old Joe with the current administration wouldn't there?

Would that be the reason you don't like Mueller?

So you cannot specifically name the ideals that the President is hostile too?
Thanks from Jimgorn

NO. We don't like McCarthy because he pointed out hundreds of people who were NOT Communist spies. These people were persecuted, black-balled, slandered and, in some cases, ruined. McCarthy lied. Books were banned and burned. Members of the media were accused of supporting Stalin.

Hmmmm.....sounds a bit like our current president, doesn't it?
Thanks from RNG
