I offered that he's dangerous to the US and the world and you cannot believe a single word out of his mouth, that he's divided the country as badly as the VN War did, and that things are positioned to get worse and I don't see a solution to the shape matters are in.

He laughed, said you're just like my wife and oldest son. She doesn't like him but I and my youngest son do ... but it's friendly enough disagreement. Then he proceeded to rap off every single Trump talking point beginning with he's going to MAGA, and when America is great, Samoa is great.

I asked, of course, just when wasn't America great? He stumbled, then said well, Trump is a strong leader. We need that. I said, you know, Obama brought the Russian economy to its knees.

Yeah, I was having a DTT moment in a cab headed to downtown Auckland, with one difference: we were having friendly disagreement, but my point is DJ is a world conversation and his talking points are accepted by people other than US rightists.

It was a beautiful day and we walked through an amazing park with 100 ft. wide rubber trees to the well done Auckland art museum. I forgot the conversation until now.

Just guessing, but your cab driver is probably like MANY who LOVE a good show--something akin to PT Barnum, wax museums, sideshow freaks and magicians. There's a bizarre quality to Trump, an oddity, a curiosity, an unpredictability that somehow seems to appeal to certain people. When they talk about him THEY LAUGH. Ever noticed that? So I guess he's some kind of grotesque joke...like watching a horror movie where you keep telling yourself "TURN AWAY--DON'T watch this. You'll have nightmares." but we can't turn away.

So glad you are enjoying your trip. How about a photo of the bride and groom?

No, I understand reframing reality is acceptable now, but the last f**king thing I want to see is the US turned into a third-world shitshow.

If you have any ideas on healing our nation, let's hear them please.

And I hear ya about vacation. I'm waiting for my wife to get ready right now

You nailed it. He was laughing a lot when talking about DJ.

I gotta say, I admired his ability to do so and was wishing I could do likewise.

The best shots of the B&G I'll have later. I'll not hijack this thread and post a few pics on the Marriage in NZ thread.

There were consequences for Bad Bill and the reason GIVEN is that he had an affair WHILE in office and maybe Trump has not had an affair WHILE in office. I guess that's supposed to make it okay--or better, but that implies that what BILL did OUT of office is okay? Somehow, Hillary became culpable for ALL OF Bill's philandering. Of course, Hillary didn't do anything wrong except to "stand by her man" and verbally shame the women. Hillary became toxic--not BILL. Hillary.

Here's the other area of concern. This new immoral code happened overnight--literally overnight. One minute we're all in agreement about fidelity, lying, fraud, and all the THOU Shalt NOTS. THEN Wednesday morning, November 9th, everything had changed. Not only had it changed but people who had previously strongly/firmly objected (in fact preached) about the eternal damnation of immoral and unethical behavior--people like Evangelicals--had switched sides. Suddenly adultery was fine. Cheating was acceptable. Lying....sure. Fine. Decency didn't matter.

We're living in a strange reality--an upside-down world--where wrong is right and bad is good...because of ONE MAN. Not only is Trump a proud philanderer with no sense of shame, but he is also the most exaggeratedly dishonest commander in chief in history. He's also a politician who knows nothing about policy and breezed into national office despite those flaws.

So, the American voters voted FOR ADULTERY, said YES to lies and HOORAY to shame. Where do we go from here?
yep, this nightmare is worse than any Tom Tomorrow cartoon

In 1998 Franklin Graham said: "If Bill Clinton will lie to or mislead his wife and daughter, with whom he is the most intimate, what will prevent him from doing the same thing to the American public ?".

2018 he said: "Trump's affair with Stormy Daniels is nobody's business but his own".

The religious right have absolutely sold their immortal souls to the devil in exchange for political power.

They are rapidly becoming the Ancient Catholic Church, you know the guys with the crusades and the inquisitions and the witch burnings !!!

No, I dont have any ideas. For starters I do not have this gloom and doom outlook. The economy is chugging really well, unemployment is at historic low rates. The tax bill has been a boom rather you like or not. This is not re framing reality, this is just facts.

Maybe the 1st step in not letting the states turn into a 3rd world country would be to stop importing as many 3rd world people that we can. You know making America great for....americans. novel idea i know.
