But I digress just a little, because the media is trying to pass opinions off as fact, always interpreting what is said by whoever, for whatever reason. As a result you have masses of people believing opinion swerved toward one ideal or another. And if we agree with that opinion, we are more apt to believe it as fact. Thus the discourse we have in this and other countries today.

And my wart for the day is this...So long as the media gets away with what they do, we will be met with manipulation to the ninth degree. And they are making it harder to investigate those truths. The media is more harmful than any president ever could be, and that is barely opinion, but very close to fact.
I know of no “opinion” that the media puts out that is accepted as fact. Meanwhile the President, almost on a daily basis, tweets out “facts” that are just wrong (they aren’t even opinions) that are accepted by his followers as true.

And yet somehow I’m just to sit back and pretend that his bullshit (and their belief that his bullshit is true) are valid positions.

I will somewhat disagree. Some media, and the right wing media such as Fox, National Review and Daily Caller that aren't quite on the RWNJ list but still way right do state a lot of opinion as if it is fact.

And the resident righties parrot that eagerly. Look how many say Hillary is guilty of about 17 different things with none of them having been proven or even shown to be probable. But they heard Fox etc. say so so it must be true.

That is a problem.

Nope. Listening to and responding to opinions in a respectful adult way is just healthy thinking. Plus you don't open yourself up to being trolled as easily.

What is hurting our country, imo, is the thinking that anyone of us know better than anyone else about politics and life in general. And then our ears are immediately shut and our brains take an extended vacation during the entirety of a discussion.

I'd say religious extremism and idiotic reality denying politicians of the science denying GOP variety are the biggest threats to the USA, today.

The issue (in this case) is not political right or wrong. The issue is standing firmly by our ethics, principles and dictates of conscience.

I am always shocked when people claim to be one thing and display the opposite.

Are you implying some semi-illiterate who gets his information from the right wing echo chamber's opinion on foreign policy is of equal value to that of a student of foreign affairs or a person with experience in the field?

Contempt for others and the closing of minds is one of the things that brought Trump to power.

So yes. Self alleged smart people ignoring the opinions of others lead to the shit show we have now.

You sidestepped the question. Smart people wouldn't be "self-alleged".

The reason we have the Republican President now is that he knew exactly what the less informed wanted to hear and told them that. And even though it was incorrect (being very polite), they swallowed it whole.

I'm not saying I am smart. Far from from it. But when "politics" are brought into the equation, then I've seen the allegedly smartest people in a room doing the most stupidest things imagineable.

Fine. I'll give your statement credence. Now what would you do to make these imbeciles think correctly and vote properly for the right candidate you deem worthy?

Go ahead and lead that horse to water.
Thanks from imaginethat
