yep

and I liked this meme because it distinguishes between the Republican Christians (which we have a plethora of here on DtT) and actual Christians (which we have far less of here).

To which I respond....Why aren't the GOOD Christians doing anything about the BAD ones? The same argument the RW uses against the "99% of Muslims are good folks" theme. Of course when one looks at the "bad" Christians...who are they? Almost completely Southern Baptists....the sect that broke away from the anti-slavery Baptist Church because the Southern Baptists SUPPORTED SLAVERY. So, those "christians" are phonies from way, way, WAYYYYYY back. A rotten sect of a church, at best.

Ultimately the truth is this: all religions are false and manmade. If a God exists, and he wants me to worship him, I'm sure he's capable of telling me himself.
Thanks from Camelot

Because there are FFFFFAAAAAAARRRRRRRRR more of the Republican style Christians than there are real Christians. They are wrapped up in their mega churches and politics and have little regard for what Jesus actually said.

I like this new group that's emerging called red letter Christians. In older bibles the actual words of Jesus were written in red ink. These folks are trying to live by the actual word of Jesus rather than what some preacher or politician is telling them based on his political motives.

Like I've said before, if they actually bothered to READ their Bibles and live accordingly my contempt for them would evaporate. But they don't read the Bible. They are ignorant of what it contains and are, quite easily, the most hateful people I've ever met. They are low-IQ simpletons being told how to think. I don't believe the Bible anymore, but it does amuse me to think that if there was a Heaven...and IF those RW "christians" got to the Pearly Gates...that God would say 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels."

One of my favorite passages is Jesus and the Roman Centurion. It ends with "there will be great weeping and gnashing of teeth". It's a warning to those who appear pious, but are in fact not true to the faith. Most of today's so called Christians would fall into this category.

IF there is a heaven and a hell, and IF the bible is to be believed, I firmly believe that most of those hate filled bigoted asswipes that call themselves Christian are going to show up at the pearly gates and St Peter is going to look at them and say "what the hell were YOU thinking" and send them straight to hell.

I think Matthew 7:3 applies perfectly here

“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?

I observe that they majority of self-declared Christians have never stopped to consider that this could, and does, apply to the self-declared christian church.

I see plenty of this going on here at dtt:

Judge not, that ye be not judged.
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again
