well, I'm not on steroids LOL - but I am a body builder in terms of body sculpting. I'm more into staying proportioned than building as much bulk where ever I am physically capable. Plus, some of those bloated body builders are so bulked up they can barely get their arms together. No thanks.

But, I can still take down a ball less one-legged gay basher LOL

Nothing Personal....I just really have a hard-on for the culture....My Brother was a football player and the a minor league catcher....My son adored him....I had a builder we did work for who was an ex-SEAL, at one point he was "Mr. Pennsylvania"....He really influenced my son.....He got in with the body building crowd and then I lost all ability to reason with him...(he was a partner in my Company)...Jr. was working as barroom bouncer and then was being encouraged into getting into Pro Wrestling... This guy was leg-pressing 800 lbs..... Then he got a hernia....got sick, the surgeon misdiagnosed it...and when they finally fixed it....it leaked....Septicemia set in and right on 9/11/2001 he passed.....

My biggest regret in life was that I didn't insist that he went in the military...I was just a little too easy-going about that.... You been there....The military teaches the value of looking out for your brothers....the Body-builders taught him to only look out for himself....The military builds tough guys, not just lifting weights in a gym..

The military is very good for teaching self-discipline and how to work as a team and, as you accurately point out, look out for each other, to the bitter end if necessary.
To a LESSER extent participating in team sports can do the same thing.
None of my three sons went into the military. My oldest would have been the same age as I was when I went into the Marines (1 in the fall of 1990. Considering what was going on in the world i did not push him to make the decision to go in.

Ah Jesus Jim, first I remember you sharing that info.

My grandmother told me the worse thing that ever happened to her was burying one of her daughters.

"No mother should have to do that."

I offer my condolences to ya.
Thanks from Jimgorn

Yeah, the whole bodybuilder culture is kinda weird. I was never in it, but I did powerlifting in the offseason and brushed up against those guys a lot in the gym. Weird fascination and attraction to their own bodies. I guess they earned it, but kinda weird. I remember seeing guys talking to their muscles
Thanks from Jimgorn
