North Korea: A sick country

Report: American held in North Korea issues 'apology' - CNN.com

To start with:

An 85-year-old American man detained in North Korea has apologized for his actions, including for killing troops and civilians during the Korean War, North Korea's state-run news agency reported Saturday.

KCNA released a statement it claimed was from Merrill Newman -- a Palo Alto, California man who, his family says, has been held in North Korea for more than 30 days.

************************************************** **

You can read the rest by clicking the link.

But North Korea is the most despicable country in the world, worse than Cuba. The former Korea war veteran was coerced into signing such a statement. Everybody in the world knows that, even the USA knows that.

If and when Mr. Newman returns from NK, of course the USA will brush it all off as such.

Mr. Newman's safety is North Korea's responsibility. Why can't China and Russian push North Korea into releasing Mr. Newman? He's an 85-year-old man, for Pete's sake.

love the I the Israeli driven hate directed towards Iran and the chickenhawk frenzie for a scorched earth policy towards it in contrast to the blind eye turned to this bat-shit crazy country/leader. I know which one I think is more apt to fire off a nuke just because it might be fun.

N. Korea is a bat crap crazy country that could destroy the pacific feet in the first 15 minutes of a military conflict.

That is why we don't want to see "Nuclear armed bat crap crazy country the sequel."

Once they become Nuclear, there Bat Crap craziness becomes just be Moody you going to give up 30K men in first 15 minutes to argue with them?

But like you saw with the North Korean example, short of putting boots on the ground, you can't stop it. Delay it with air strikes, maybe, stop it, don't think so.

And here we are again but this time with Iran much more sophisticated and further along than in your example. Also, Iran learned their lesson and spread their facilities out geographically and placed them in hardened bunkers. Iranians aren't stupid TV,

Not really.

To take out the fleet they would have to know where the fleet is.

They do not have that capability.

Come on, they know exactly where US Navy ships operating in there AO are at. The "entire" pacific fleet is a very poor way to put it though. The "entire" Pacific fleet is never operating all together. Its scattered from Hawaii, to Sasebo, to Singapore, to Australia, to Yokosuka etc. etc.

For the longest time N. Korea got away with all the crap they pulled because China played big brother to them and fear of involving China kept responses to the various Kim Dum Dums rather mild. China is now becoming more and more a money grubber and less and less ideological. They are getting more and more pissed off with N. Korea so they are becoming fair game but so far have done a great job of brinkmanship - just stopping short of making it worth the effort and fall-out of doing them some serious harm. I still think NATO or someone should just sink their total navy this week and destroy their airforce next week. I still think at this point if they put one of their nukes in one of their rockets it's more likely they will hit themselves or China than whoever they aim at.
