That was Nice, Mr President.

Donald Trump issues Australia Day message

Quote:
"On behalf of President Trump and the American people, it is my honour to congratulate the people of Australia as you celebrate this Australia Day, 229 years after the arrival of the First Fleet at Sydney Harbour,

"It has been over 75 years since your Commonwealth and the United States established diplomatic relations, but connections between America and Australia reach back to that fleet."

"Today, travel is easier, and we are honoured to host almost 1.5 million Australians in the United States each year, with over 200,000 Australians here on any given day,"

"Half a million Americans are fortunate enough to visit your land each year.

"Today, Australia and the United States are top trade and investment partners, with $US65 billion ($86 billion) in goods and services flowing between us each year.

"The United States is responsible for over a quarter of all foreign direct investment in Australia and we are the top destination for Australian investment abroad."

"The United States has no better friend than Australia, and our longstanding alliance is a force for stability and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region and around the globe."

This isn't a knock on Trump in particular but I bet all heads of state has some flunky whose job it is to keep track of such things and respond to it.

There is no way in the world I will believe Trump actually wrote that somewhat eloquent note.

Trump's penmanship is a thousand times better than mine. Trump has a beautiful signature when I only sign R.

i doubt he wrote it, but he probably knew it was being sent and what it was about.

its a nice coincidence that your presidential inauguration is january 20 and australia day is january 26. its a perfect opportunity for a new administration to say something presidential.

Aussies seem like brothers and sisters, powerfully so. I stayed about two months when I visited. No adjustments were needed. Everybody seemed to want to get along. Like on the highway to the Gold Coast, sometimes everybody would be going the same speed, no cutting in and out, just laid back cruising down the road en masse. It was so cool.

How do Aussies feel about Trump?

Recently spoke to my Australian friend and he told that in his country people don't really care about Trump.
As for Muslim issue they also have migrants but not as much as in Europe and that's the point. But most of them are against Muslim ban in America because only a few of ME refugees go to US as well as to Australia and migrants problem is not a big issue as in EU countries.
