Chief, you really do need to rethink your one-dimensional view on the concept of God. I am not saying that you should subscribe to some established religion. I am saying that you should look up into the sky and consider that some higher power(s) just might be responsible for it. Humans do not yet have the capacity to fully understand it.

I just think the notion of a god is terribly simplistic and unimaginative. It's so uninspired. If god is all there is the universe has to offer, I'd rather opt out...

My beliefs are much more awe inspiring...

You are totally missing my point. Carl Sagan is dead.

I suppose I am missing your point... What does his death mean to the truth of his teaching? Jesus Christ is dead too... So is Mohammed... And the Buddah... And Moses...

The difference is that Carl Sagan's teachings were demonstrable, repeatable and scientifically provable. The TRUTH is what I believe in.

I think the problem with our religions is that they assume we are the epitome of what "God" can do. When you look at the totality of the universe and how astoundingly insignificant not only humans, but hell our entire galaxy is, I think it's a bit presumptuous to consider "we" might even be a consideration of someone who might have created this reality.

If we have a "God" over "us", he'd be at best a middle manager type, not the [entity] responsible for the entire universe.
