German Government Votes to Ban Internal Combustion Engines by 2030

Quote:
Members of the German government have just passed a resolution to ban the sale of internal combustion engines in the European Union by 2030. Only zero-emissions vehicles would be allowed on the market after that time, according to the resolution.

German news magazine Der Spiegel broke the news on Saturday; an English-language report on the resolution can be found at Forbes. The resolution was passed in Germany's Bundesrat, the nation's legislative body representing the sixteen German states, with across-the-aisle support.

I have nothing against electric cars and even considered putting a deposit down on a tesla 3 but I think I would like to see how they preform in real life. My issue is the state interference in business. Both the Germans attempting to restrict German car manufacturer and the US and its "investment" in tesla.

Both IMO are dramatic over reaches of government authority.

It was part of a UN study. The study said that all internal combustion vehicles must be banned by 2030 or we was all doomed. Well, ok not really. The elites living on the coast would lose their beach front property. Which means were all doomed, according to the elites. Which, all of this is based on the assumption that global warming is totally man-made. I think its in this following study, I might be wrong. This is another study that says if we can just ban everything and live in caves and stop pooping we should be ok. We being the elites who live on the coast who do not want to lose their beach front property.

Edit. I think it was a EU study. Anyway this is the newest coolest wave that really kicked into gear about two years ago.

This is what it amounts to IMO. We can provide public transportation in the cities and link cities together with high speed rail or some other form of transportation. What about the people who live in rural area's and small towns? Surely they can keep their cars! Nope, they will be forced to leave their homes and their property confiscated and integrated into large urban areas. Its all for the good of the planet ya know.

We can go back to external combustion engines. A coal fired steam train is an external combustion engine, the fire box makes it external combustion.

sigh..Where to even begin on the lack of efficiency you are citing. Let me put it this way. Did you see the new steam ship that got built recently? Yeah me neither..
