And the ultimate irony is, ALMOST NONE of the people abusing opiates will ever face jail time !!!!!! Since it's the drug of choice for the middle and mostly white class they are rarely charged. Occasionally the law will go after the pill mills, and someone will go to jail for distribution, but few of the end users will ever be charged.

But if you're a poor black kid with an ounce too much pot in your possession, it's 10 YEARS !!!

Personally I think we should legalize, tax and regulate ALL the drugs. Let people open recreational use drug stores right next to the tobacco and liquor stores. And to be perfectly honest, I think they aughta go ahead and put the whore house in the same area. Set up little "sin city" areas. Tax, regulate, and police the hell out of them.

One of the world's ironies is that the conservatives, the ones constantly bleating about "personal responsibility and smaller government" are the ones leading the charge in the "war on drugs". We've spent hundreds of billions, if in fact not a trillion or more, dollars fighting the drug trade and in the best years we only stop about two percent. All we're doing is creating a slave class feeding the for profit prison system and making foreign cartels very very rich.

To Further Bubba's point in the above post, Druggie Limbaugh gets a walk for basically promising to be a good boy. For some reason, a whole bunch of poor blacks don't get the same deal.

Limbaugh is a perfect example of what I was discussing. We had a very similar case here in TN, my county Sheriff was arrested for the same thing. And like Limbaugh he took a deal where he had to resign his office. But in 5 years his records will be expunged and he can apply for another law enforcement job, or run for office again !!!!!

And in THE ULTIMATE ironic turn !!!!!

During the 2000 election debacle, Limbaugh had NOTHING NICE TO SAY about the Florida supreme court. Calling them "one of THE most liberal bastions in the nation" !!! A bunch of black robes just making up the law as they went. On and on and on ad infinitum.

Flash forward to 2003-2006 and when the prosecutors investigating Limbaugh's drug use and the possibility he had been doctor shopping to feed his addictions, it was THAT SAME COURT that kept his medical records sealed !!!!!

What a fucking hypocrite.

"Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country," Limbaugh said in October 1995 on a television show he had at the time. "And so, if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up."

He went on to say that drug use was a choice, NOT a disease. That it was merely a character fault if you CHOSE to do drugs.

How is that hypocrisy? How was what he said about the court in 2000 anything to do with a future matter in front of that court?

And how many members of the court in 2000 were on the court when they ruled on his medical records five years later?

Oh, and it seems the Florida Supreme Court refused Limbaugh's request.
