Buddhism is one of the many pathways available to gain a deeper understanding of life.



It's ultimate literal goal of annihilating the self isn't too appealing to me. If "the self" is the ego, I agree that being controlled by the ego isn't advantageous. But personally, I think controlling the ego and using it is a better idea than annihilating it.

Probably the only religion I would join should that day ever come. Pretty peaceful and intriguing religion.

"The Snow Leopard" by Peter Matthiessen gave me my first understandings of the tenets of Buddhism, and it was an enjoyable read.

(there are also buddhist ideas in some peoples psychotic delusions)
