The government could never force anyone to buy insurance either, right?

Who ever said that? The republicans sure thought it was a fine idea back in the 90's. But the fact is, mandating people have coverage has zero to do with a church being forced to go against it's doctrine and to do any wedding whose participants it feels do not meet the requirements of that faith. Nothing could force them to marry anyone, least of all, the government.

So everyone with car accident insurance in the red states bought it due to their great dedication to social responsibility?
Thanks from waitingtables and Camelot

Maybe because states only mandate basic minimum coverage, not auto policies with unlimited liability, universal rates for accident prone drone and alcoholic drivers, and no charge preventative maintenance for vehicle.
