Want to be bullied?

Yes? Then become an inmate in a nursing home in this 'civilized' country called England, and you'll get plenty! What the hell is going on that young and fit individuals use their superior strength to abuse the weakest and most vulnerable in society and draw their paycheques at the end of the month with no conscience whatsoever?

Have you a relative in a nursing home?

Not now, but my mum was in one 2 years ago; it was about then that exposÚs of endemic abuse and bullying by 'care' staff towards residents started coming out, and they've been coming out ever since.

Coincidentally, there was an all-party parliamentary condemnation yesterday of the unbelievable bullying which is now endemic in our police service, but wait for it - MPs were recently criticised for bullying their junior non-political staff in the House of Commons! Honestly, 'you couldn't make it up' as we say over here.

This is why you purchase a Long Term Care Policy..

This way you don't have to go to the Government nursing home..

That is no guarantee that bullying/abuse won't happen. Indeed, the government has no interest in long term care, nor nursing homes, because in this country the fees are paid by the individual or the families of the individual.

There's a bit more to it than that, TNV: for one thing it appears to be so widespread that it could end up a case of 'out of the frying pan and into the fire', and for another, the elderly person for one reason or another (inability to communicate coherently - or in the case of dementia, not even perceive the bullying - or fear of reprisals) would choose not to complain. Also, the 'bullying' isn't necessarily physical abuse, it can take the form of ignoring calls for attention for such things as toilet facilities or assistance, or replenishment of the water jug.

Money may help, or it may make you a target. The only real protection from elder abuse is to have someone good who loves you.

Gee, no shit. You can purchase fucking ANYTHING if you can afford it.
WTF is wrong with you anyway?
Are you saying it's OK to bully elderly people because after all they were too poor, or short-sighted, to purchase long term care insurance so they deserve it?
Looks that way to me.

I purchased my Long term care insurance at age 30... it cost me $19/month for 500,000 of long term care. Today it still costs me $19/month
