Increasing the minimum wage to $30k/yr @ 8/hr shifts X3(24/hr/day) $90k

That is the number that business owners look at when considering automation.

What happens when the minimum wage jobs are held by robots? A new need is created. People to maintain the robots. That job will require a degree not one in liberal arts. The baristas, the cashiers exc. will be displaced. One robot can work all 24 hours, no training, no sick days. No mistakes. No theft. Just software and headwear updates. Things that will make them better. Look at the airport in Seattle where the $15 has already been. Robots.

Who gains the most from an over all raise in the pay rate? Those who take a % from every single paycheck.

SabCat, nothing within this, your latest post) negates my post #70 of this thread. USA's automation has and will continue to be to out nation's net economic benefit.
The federal minimum wage rate should, (similarly to Social Security benefits), be annually cost-of-living-adjusted, (i.e.,COLA'd). The minimum wage is a victim rather than among the major causes of the U,S. Dollar's inflation. Other than that and that it's purchasing power should be much more than it has ever been, is the only thing wrong about our federal minimum wage rate.

Respectfully, Supposn

The Wendy's on US Route 40 makes chili correctly and the only Wendy's in the immediate area which does that to perfection, and must be robotics using a servo planetary gearmotor.

There are many things involved in artificially increasing wages. Most importantly where will these monies come from?

Why did you take a post from another thread and interject into this old thread instead of just bringing that one back to life where that post would have fit contextually?

Seems a bit silly to me.

This is what a threat of $15 dollar wage for entry level employees will do.

This is why hourly pay in Seattle Increased and annual earnings decreased the # of employees were not cut but the number of hours they work was cut to 28 or less, Fewer employees on staff at any one time, but the number of employees remained the same.

instead of working 40 hours they are only working part time.

You don't need a degree to repair, program and maintain robots but you need a degree to be a manager who gets paid less than the robot repairers.

You need a mechanical and electrical engineering degree to design robots.

edit: Several McDonalds in New England require a college degree to work the cash register.
