I read it somewhere, and I can't seem to find any evidence of it. My mistake. Regardless, what is true, is that the Khmer Rouge was funded by the US.

Lenin straight up said he was a Marxist.
I never denied this.

He fought a civil war which is where most of this death toll comes from.

They are not fleeing capitalism. They are fleeing corrupt or totalitarian governments or civil war usually caused by Communist uprising. Also, where is it they are fleeing to? Capitalist nations is where.

Yes they are fleeing capitalism. That's the point.

You need to understand the power structure of the world.

Third world countries are sources of cheap labor and raw materials. The governments pretty much have to be corrupt in order to sustain the world system. Which explains why these countries tend to be chaotic. You have to fall in line with this system or get sanctioned.

First world countries are the exploiters and own all of the primary economic markets. Governments are just as corrupt, but it is masked by relative economic prosperity and military supremacy.

So people aren't fleeing to capitalism. They are fleeing to stability, even though they are still being exploited and are under the mercy of capitalism. Illegal immigrants for example are still used as cheap labor when they come to the US.
Thanks from imaginethat

I grew up w/ Cambodians and Vietnamese who's families escaped those regimes. I have associates who still to this day help people escape from Vietnam. To hear these stories first hand would make you think differently i would assume.

Again, i believe true communism is a beautiful thing. I have associates who live on communes and they are very happy. It is unfortunate that they must still bare the burden of the state. It cannot work when it is forced. People must be open and willing participants.

China is a good example of a nation that has left many of the tenets of Communism behind to take advantage of capitalism and what it can bring. But, they are still a totalitarian government. That will change over time I suspect. You cant give people the freedom of a capitalist market and expect to keep a totalitarian government in place. China has many problems linked to its Communist government. But, things are starting to improve now that they are embracing Capitalism. There is still human rights violations and child labor that must not be condoned happening in China. This is a pretty good article to read.
China?s capitalism and the crisis ? International Socialism
