Not how it is playing out. The state is pushing driverless and electric vehicles. They are being given government money to develop them. They are being tested on public roads to the risk of the public. More and more regulations are being passed on features on new vehicles bringing them closer to driverless cars. Tax insensitives are being given to those who purchase electric cars. Then you have the increasing minimum wage pricing low skilled workers out of the market.

So no, the way i see it, it is more of a planned economy than free market.

I do believe that all of this automation is comming but i also believe that if we would allow it to happen organically instead of forcing it prematurely we could avoid the shock to our ecosystem and the results would be better.

I see your point. Maybe nuclear power could be compared to this. Without the government covering the nuclear industry's ass, we'd never have had any nuclear-generated electricity.

But looking at the principle rather than the specific, a good capitalist always will destroy jobs in pursuit of profit. If she doesn't, her competition will.
