I have been wanting to talk about the difference between religions and humanitarianism.

Here is one definition of humanitarianism...

Quote:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humanitarianism
Humanitarianism is an active belief in the value of human life, whereby humans practice benevolent treatment and provide assistance to other humans, in order to better humanity for moral, altruistic and logical reasons. It is the philosophical belief in movement toward the improvement of the human race in a variety of areas, used to describe a wide number of activities relating specifically to human welfare. A practitioner is known as a humanitarian.
I favor humanitarianism because it assumes we are all equal under the sun. This is different from religions with a God who has favorite people and orders his favorite to kill people and take their land. I think those religions have been very problematic for several reasons, and the belief that something is wrong with us unless we are saved by a supernatural being is offensive. Not to mention the wrong of killing and taking people's lands and still operating with that mentality in the name of God.
Thanks from RNG

Perhaps this will end some confusion, there are not demons that make people sick, and it is necessary to wash our hands before eating. Understanding germs cause infections and disease has done more to extend our life expectancy than the bible. We now name our children at birth because we expect them to live, unlike before science, when we were reluctant to expect a child to live past the age of 3.

I am impressed with what an apparent like lack of history has done to the thinking that is popular in the USA today.

Her's is a more interesting topic, and has some rationality behind it. It is worth of discussion and not just more bible-thumping.
