Isn't being pregnant under 15 a crime?

In my hometown of Memphis, a girl of the inner city at the tender age of 15, got her head blown off by a 12 guage. Someone has been arrested in this offense, that is the good news.

The bad news is that the girl was pregnant, so the baby died as well. Now, from a legal perspective, a 15 year old cannot consent to sexual activity even if the 15 year old consents. So, while be being 15 years old and pregnant is not illegal, there is evidence (a baby) of unlawful sexual activity.

The laws in the United States to me are very strict when it comes to teenage sexual activity, or at least an adult having sex with a "child" who is 15, 16 or 17 years of age. If someone under the age of consent is giving birth, does the hospital have an obligation to call the police to report a, at best statutory rape?

The only times in a situation like this I would call the police is if the girl looks abused or homeless. If she comes in healthy with family and/or support group, calling the cops would just bring up more hardship.

But again, this comes from a country that is totally goofy and has repressive laws about teen sexuality. Case in point, and this is a true story, of two teenage lovers who had naked pictures of themselves on their phones and were busted for it. Both of them were convicted of possession of child pornography. Sort of ridiculous.

I do not agree with "Sex Offender Registries" either. If someone has done something sexual against a child, they should be in prison for the rest of their lives or executed. If the person is deemed dangerous, they need to be locked up in a mental hospital (and California does this in the city of Coalinga (might be sic), Google or Youtube "Louie Theroux/A Place for Pedophiles." You'll find it.

But being that this is American Law, a lot of stuff can be seen and should be seen as misdeamnors or civil violations get blown up as felonies and being labeled a "sex offender". Which brings the point of tragedies of 18-19 year old boys being convicted of having sex with a minor (as in a 16-17 year old) and made a sex offender. I read one heartbreaking story about a boy of that age who exactly happened what I described above. He ended up killing himself because he saw a life with no hope. No one will hire a sex offender, he could not join the military as a sex offender, he cannot have a career as a sex offender, he felt no one will marry him (or he could support a family since no one will hire them).

About a year after the kid killed himself, the state of Michigan sent their parents a letter saying their son is off the list because of a "Romeo and Juliet" law which basically allows 16-17 year olds to have sexual activity with someone basically up to 21. What upsetted the parents a lot was the fact that Michigan did not know the guy was already dead.

So, your 15 year old daughter is "knocked up". Do you call the law?

If she was impregnated by a 30 year old, yep. By a 16 year old, probably not.

What about the parents, who somehow failed to convey to their 15 year old that IF you're set on having sex, if you can't "just say no," it's totally irresponsible NOT to take precautions, for STDs and for pregnancies?

And you gotta ask: What sort of parenting led up to their 15 year olds wanting a nice helping of sex? Were these parents who thought it was "cute" for their eight year old to dress "sexy" while mom helped her put on makeup?

You know, this shit:

Or this:

Then, the eight year old version of the "Hey, I see you noticed me and you're thinking about sex with me, and maybe but probably not" look:

Innocence is lost too quickly under ordinary circumstances. But when parents, and it's moms not dads, begin sexualizing eight year olds ... what freaking surprise can it be when 15 year olds get knocked up? Yes, it's a crime for a 15 year old to be pregnant one way or another.

I first had sex when I was 15 ... but since I was a boy it's not considered to be so scandalous.

age of consent laws vary a bit from state to state in the US. in most states there's no way for a 15 year old to be legally pregnant.

I was surprised to find out one of my customers was on the sex offenders list in his state. Then I heard the rest of the story. He was 19, she was 17, and he's been married to his "victim" for 32 years. They have three children and five grandchildren. It seems stupid to me that he's on the sex offenders website.

See there's the problem. As I pointed out in a another thread, SOOOOOOO many parents are completely disconnected from what's going on in their children's life. They can't be bothered to show up at PTA meetings. When their kids get in trouble they refuse to accept it. Total denial. Do you think these people are actually going sit down and discuss SEX with their kids ??? OH HELL NO !!!! But don't you dare suggest the school system do it either !!!!
Thanks from imaginethat and catus felis
