"I want to believe the path you threw out for consideration in Andy's office - that there's no way he [Trump] gets elected – but I'm afraid we can't take that risk," writes FBI counterintelligence officer Peter Strzok to FBI lawyer Lisa Page, with whom he was having an extramarital affair while spearheading both the Clinton email inquiry and the early Trump-Russia probe,....

So it looks like the "insurance policy" is the use of the fake dossier to seek FISA court wire taps.

Dirty dirty dirty.

LOL

Why lie? Is that rhetorical?

Steele was only brought on board once Hillary began paying for this, then he put the dossier together.

Quote:
Marc E. Elias, a lawyer representing the Clinton campaign and the DNC, retained Fusion GPS, a Washington firm, to conduct the research.

After that, Fusion GPS hired dossier author Christopher Steele, a former British intelligence officer with ties to the FBI and the U.S. intelligence community, according to those people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
(emphasis added)

Clinton campaign, DNC paid for research that led to Russia dossier

Oh, and this too from the WaPo link. Let us not forget the FBI's role.

Quote:
After the election, the FBI agreed to pay Steele to continue gathering intelligence about Trump and Russia, but the bureau pulled out of the arrangement after Steele was publicly identified in news reports.

Yep, and that's a bipartisan affair at DTT and in general. It's hilarious watching the righties' glee on this thread, as if they're a stranger to hatred, and blind to any truth except for that which they "like".

Dude, I have to keep you honest....

I never thought about that. From what we read the DNC had been running on fumes since Obama.

Think how the news is always dominated by news on the federal government, Congress, POTUS, the courts, et al. It was never meant to be this way.

Once we had a President who said the only communication the average person should have with the federal government was the mailman. Now it dominates our lives as it eats away our liberty. No amount of money is ever enough for its maw.
Now we have a president who "stars" in the news every day, sometimes multiple times a day.

And as far as I can determine, not enough people pay enough attention to the news of what their government is doing. Most get their "news" in predigested bits, which is why the criminals on both sides of the aisle can get away with just about anything the want.

I don't know which president you've mentioned, but he's entirely wrong. Constitutionally limited democratic republics require informed citizens. Without them, all such governments will sooner or later become a corporatocracy overseen by oligarchs, exactly where we are today.

D vs. R is the sideshow.

Oh of course. That's why Russian state TV commentators and panel discussions clearly showed favor towards Trump, the guy who'll lift the sanctions, and why big celebrations were heard and seen throughout Russia when Trump won.

So of course, while all that was happening, Putin's intelligence agencies were working for Hillary.

Of course.

Fair is fair.

Trump won't supply his financial records either.
