Quote:
A sixty-seven year old Time Warner Cable Ohio call center employee is dead and Time Warner Cable is facing significant criticism from local Ohio news affiliates for negligence. According to a co-worker who was trying to save the woman, Time Warner Cable managers told her to stop CPR and "get back on the phone and take care of customers." [more]
THIS IS THE SICKEST/MEANEST FUCKA THING I HAVE SEEN IN AWHILE....

The statement by TW was lame. Just an idiotic "official" response. The supervisor should be canned. Read the article by WOIO:

This lady was probably making about $12 an hour. We certainly can't waste that on somebody dying.

My partner's employer was sued once because she responded to a cardiac emergency even though she was not the company's designated on-site emergency responder. They had two official responders onsite but one was out sick and the other was at lunch when a worker had a heat attack.

She had trained as an EMT though she had not finished the full course. She was, needless to say, trained in CPR. And she did everything by the book and probably saved the fucker's life but he still sued the company. Supposedly it was at the urging or possibly demand of his health insurance company which was not that company's employee coverage. They did not want to cover his bills which ended up including bypass surgery. So they convinced him that the company was negligent.

They did not name my partner as a party to the suit. I am sure that it was simply because she was a broke-ass twenty-something secretary from whom they would have been lucky to extract a few pennies. But they did name her in the list of those company representatives whom they considered negligent.

It's hard to be a good Samaritan these days. You just get sued for your efforts.
