Arizona marches to the beat of its own drummer. But if that drummer gets upset and starts hollering on the Internet, he might get tossed in the clink. After spending years targeting illegal aliens, the Grand Canyon State is turning its sights on obnoxious Internet users (commonly called 'trolls')

better watch out!

I agree with the stalking part. But it is really far too vague using terms like annoy or offend. That is absolutely ridiculous. I hope she doesn't sign the bill.

It's plainly unconstitutional, like so many of the bills which the AZ legislature has recently passed. Here's a statement from the Media Coalition:

It looks like the main problem is that they simply updated an old telephone harassment statute without considering the free speech ramifications, or the fact that things like blogs are one to many rather than one to one.

And it's a good thing for you that you don't live there. Though with your attitudes, I'm shocked that you don't.

Oh wait, they don't like immigrants there, do they?

They don't like ILLEGAL immigrants.

As a LEGAL immigrant I have no problem living LEGALLY in AZ or anywhere in the US. Or the EU. Or Australia.

Your supposed wife from Columbia might not find the conditions as favorable in AZ as a pasty-white Brit.

Like me she is perfectly legal and has nothing to fear in any US state.

As long as she carries those papers! Don't go to Arizona looking at all Latina without your papers or you might end up in Mexico.

You're supping the MSNBC hype!

Actually the conditions of Permanent Residency clearly state one is required to present ID on request from certain government officials. It's nothing specific to AZ.

And the Green Card is like a credit card, there are no "papers". More MSNBC hyperbole

Anyway in CA most of the cops are Latino so I'm the one who needs to worry!

If you live in Arizona and you look Latino or Latina, you better have your United States papers ready to show if you are stopped by law enforcement for any reason. I am not talking abut people known to be immigrants, I am talking about profiling. Some legal residents look Latino and might end up deported.

Like I just said, you spend far too much time watching those buffoons on MSNBC most of whom never leave the North East triangle (like you).

How do YOU know that?

Anyone who cannot produce the right ID is subject to arrest, not just brown people.

I've even seen pedestrians in LA stopped by cops and asked for ID. This could not happen in the UK or other more free countries as there is no national ID since the Identity Documents Act 2010 was recently repealed by the Tories.

Given Arizona's proximity to the border it's no surprise they need to be more vigilant.

Libbie lefties in the north east are blissfully unaware of that even though their taxes are also spent feeding illegal immigrants

How is it a rebuttal??

I already explained the rules about Green Card presentation are perfectly clear. If I'm stopped and say I'm a US citizen I may still have to prove it.

In practice my deep baritone voice and authoritative British accent tends to intimidate most yanks, cops included.

I really take issue with that claim. People that are not brown are not stopped in anywhere near an equal proportion to brown people.
