We fund terrorists in many ways, most of which are rarely mentioned in the American media. Some of the funding is direct, some in a more round about way. The UN, IMF, and World Bank are not exactly organizations oriented towards promoting democracy. This become painfully obvious when you follow the money.

We're also very fond of dropping tons and tons of aid into regions around the world controlled by terrorists, dictators and zealots. We do it because it makes us feel good. But the majority of that aid never reaches the intended targets. Instead, it only serves to further prop up those we are supposedly fighting against. Those promoting the increase of aid funding understand this problem well, but they rarely state who is really receiving the aid at the end of the day.

As consumers, we do our part as well. Every time we purchase a fashion accessory at an unbelievably low price our dollars are likely headed into the wrong hangs. Terrorist organizations understand well the penalties for marketing black market goods are exponentially less severe than those for drug operations, gun running, etc. So they go the path of least resistance and create a complex maze of counterfeiting channels. The money is good and the risk is small.

It's always the same. Follow the money.
"I'm bringing to you and to the people of the United States the gratitude of the Afghan people for the support that your taxpayers' money has provided Afghanistan over the past decade and for the difference that it has made to the well-being of the Afghan people," Karzai told Obama at a press conference today.
One wonders how much of that taxpayer's money has made it's way into Karzai's Swiss bank account and the Taliban's retirement fund?

We'll know when his Swiss account reaches the proper funding level.
Just watch the Nobel Peace Prize announcements.
