Moral of the story? The biggest polluters on the planet are Governments like ours. Yes that's right all you Big Government loving Corporate hating loony tunes; the Government in this nation is the single biggest polluter, not private corporations.

But do not expect any prosecutions or major lawsuits; the Government cannot be touched.

That is why Reagan and Bush 41 worked a plan for GLASSIFICATION which will keep the material contained for about 100,000 years, which carries it through enough 1/2 lives to not be a threat before it leaked, and bury it miles below the surface.

Then harry Reid killed it.

Reid stopped vitrification?

Back that up, please.

I'll tell ya this, GW cut funding for the Hanford Vitrification Plant.

Quote:

A cut of $100 million to Hanford's vitrification plant in fiscal year 2006 could lead to layoffs, higher costs and missed construction deadlines, U.S. Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., said Monday.

Yucca Mountain Legislative Information – Eureka County Nuclear Waste Page

Reagan began process to begin the planning and building of the Yucca Valley waste disposal in 1982

It was the aim of Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, D-SD, along with Senators Harry Reid, D-NV, and John Ensign, R-NV, to kill the Yucca Mountain project by not ever calling up S.J. Res. 34 to vote.
