This is what a demagogue does. The President's quite good at it...that's all that's going on: pander to where it'll buy you enough votes.

I am amused by the false idea of a Federally mandated Social Safety Net.

Why do we need a Federal Social Safety Net in the first place? It occurs when Federally mandated policies lead to really bad outcomes placing our citizens in great economic harm.

It is like this grand circle jerk where everyone feels good but acheive nothing that could be mistaken for economic security. It is the same misplaced ideology that believes in equal outcomes for unequal inputs, re-distribution schemes that steal from those who earn in order to give it to those who do nothing for it (other than their vote for politicians who promise goodies) and a myopic view that the economy is finite and therefore if one earns more, someone else must have earned less.

It is a misguided view that does nothing to lift citizens out of poverty or make them secure, but rather ensure they remain poor and dependent on the State for their welfare.

It's time for this president to stop playing games with the Republican misfits and expose them as the menace that they have become to this nation. Mr. Obama needs to stop playing defense, take the offensive, and flood the national media with this message to Mr. Ryan and his GOP cohorts: "We are not going to allow you to destroy the Affordable Health Care Act that will benefit up to 30 million Americans who would otherwise not be covered by health care insurance."

"We are not going to allow you to destroy Medicare by replacing it with a voucher system that would, in effect, severely water down or eliminate health care for millions of Americans and make it unavailable for millions more who badly need it; no, Mr. Ryan, we will not let you do this by any stretch of the imagination." And lastly he should, once and for all, make it crystal clear to Ryan and his fellow sociopaths that "We will not allow you to touch any part of Social Security; it has no connection with the deficit and it is a non-negotiable issue.
It is those same out of control "safety-nets" that are destroying this country! Self responsibility, and to family, is being replaced by this governments need to control. It is this very same government that is you, and people like you who come to depend on the fruits of someone else's labor, and truly believe you have a right to it that is destroying this country. You have relinquished your self respect and dignity to this government under the debased ideology that you use as justification.
Thanks from Tony

It never made sense to me. Who stood to benefit from the AHCA, besides insurance providers and those employed by a bloated, inefficient healthcare delivery system?
For those of us keeping track, we’ve noticed some fuzzy math going on here.

Early on, we had 20 million people walking around with no health insurance and that constituted a crisis. In order to resolve the crisis the government had to take over the entire health care industry. Over time, that 20 million number started to grow. It wasn’t long before we had 25 million “victims” of capitalism walking around loose on the streets.

As the horrors of ObamaCare began to surface those numbers grew even more. Suddenly we had 30 million, no wait, its really 40 million hopeless souls eking out a living without any healthcare at all. The number today stands at 45 million according to the latest liberal speeches.

If we are to take liberals at their word, since the time the ObamaCare legislation got rammed down the American public’s throats, they created 25 million new people without any health coverage.

Had they focused like a laser on jobs in the first place, that number would be back down to 20 million I am assuming.

Unemployment dropped immediately with the onset of the new deal.

Gdp rose immediately at the fastest rate in history after plummeting at the fast rate in history.

And university sponsored bullshit that it lasted 7 years longer has no fucking idea what a depression is. It would have to be the fucking art department.

Did it?

New deal was passed in 1934 part 1 Unemployment was 19% (unemployment had dropped from 25% to 19% BEFORE the new deal.. 1938 Unemployment was 19% 1939 18%

Unemployment did not drop below 15% until 1942..

The rest of the world was out of the depression by 1935... In the history the Great Depression is known as the Depression of 1931..

FDR did not get us out of the Depression.. JAPAN did.
