One of many links - Got milk? Venezuela often doesn't - Features - Al Jazeera English - I chose Al Jazeera so the lefties couldn't accuse me of cherry picking some right wing blog.

Centrally planned economies are bad news even when a little intelligence is used. When an idiot like Chavez o/e does it - look out. Toilet paper may become hard to find.
A perfect example of the failure of Marxist centralized planning that illustrates how well intentioned leftist policies lead to really bad consequences.

Yet there is a vast majority of brain dead sheeple in the US who willingly fall for such class envy centralized policy making based on nothing deeper or substantive than they care more.

The collapse of the former Soviet Union is a testimony to such failures; yet many still need to re-learn these lessons in folly. The ONLY thing preventing a collapse of the Chinese Communist regime is their tepid allowance of capitalism in specific industry zones and by permitting the exploitation of their workers and environment.

The only thing propping up the Communist North Korean regime is China and Cuba is rapidly disintegrating since the collapse of their sponsors in the former Soviet Union.

I'm waiting for 1,000,000,000 people in China to want a union.

Simply proves that ideological extremes are always bad. Unfettered capitalism is no better.

What made this country great was striking a balance between our capitalistic foundations and our more progressive ideals.

What is this mythical ideology liberals like to fabricate that argues for "unfettered" capitalism and when has this "unfettered" capitalism ever occurred?

UUUHHH maybe if you bothered to read some history. Early industrialized Europe and America. No safety requirements, no environmental regulations, no benefits of any kind, children working in the same factories as their parents. If you got hurt, even on the job, you were on your own.

Take a look at the working conditions in any early industrial age factory.

Company stores and company housing kept many workers poor and tied to their jobs.

Slave labor plantations were unfettered capitalism.

The Kellogs and the Hersheys were considered radical looney lefties for thinking that workers with decent housing, school for their children and medical care would be more loyal and higher producing.

slave labor is not free market capitalism. force has been used that interferes with the market for labor.
