Immigration Bill Now Over 1000 Pages

Wow, these boneheads can't do anything simply. Dreadful for America as it does not help the citizens. Tell your Senator: NO!

Immigration Bill Swells to Over One Thousand Pages

by Matthew Boyle 28 May 2013, 12:09 PM PDT post a comment

The Senate Judiciary Committee has increased the already-sizable length of the “Gang of Eight” immigration reform bill to more than a thousand pages during the markup process, Breitbart News has learned.

The final length of the bill remained a mystery during its drafting process. Some estimates from media outlets, including from the Washington Post's David Nakamura, placed the bill length at the time at longer than 1,500 pages. Breitbart News also reported that estimate, as did many other media outlets.

When the bill came out at introduction just under a thousand pages, Gang of Eight members tried to attack the reputations of the media outlets that reported those initial numbers. Marco Rubio attacked those who reported on the estimates of the bill’s length in a press release.

Rubio said The Daily Caller’s Neil Munro was pushing “myth” over “fact” for saying the bill would be “more than 1,000 pages.” The Post’s Nakamura, the Miami Herald, and the Washington Examiner’s Byron York also received criticism from Rubio for their articles reporting the estimate of the bill's length.

Rubio also attacked his Senate colleagues, criticizing Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) for saying it was a “thousand-page bill” and Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) for suggesting the estimates could place the bill's length as high as 1,600 pages long.

The first version of the bill that was filed by the eight senators--Marco Rubio (R-FL), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), John McCain (R-AZ), Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Dick Durbin (D-IL), Michael Bennet (D-CO), and Bob Menendez (D-NJ)--totaled 844 pages. An updated version, filed just before the bill went to the committee markup, stretched 867 pages in length.

The new bill towers over previous versions in length, clocking in at 1,076 pages. It was introduced on Tuesday afternoon.

Looks like this one will fail before it even gets started.

Any bill with that many pages is doomed.

As far as I'm concerned all the members of the "gang of 8" should be voted out of office. The Demo-Rats and the RINO's have joined forces to effectively make the illegal aliens look like victims instead of the criminals they really are! All in an effort to garner votes to keep them in power no matter how much harm it has, and will do to the citizens of this country. Millions of legal American citizens out of work, and somehow adding another 45-million will somehow is good?!!

I've got an immigration bill of one sentence: if you are here illegally - get the fuck out.

When politicians create sweeping bills such as this they are already thinking two moves ahead.

For example, one part of the bill provides a path to citizenship within 13 years. Hey, it sounds good on paper today. But once the bill passes does anyone think that number will remain at 13? It is negotiable later on down the road and the politicians know this.

Picture this. One year after the bill’s passage Chuck Schumer holds a press conference surrounded by a dozen sad looking Hispanic children. Wiping a tear from his eye, Schumer pleads to the public, “how can we make these children wait 13 years for freedom?” Pause for effect.

Don’t kid yourself. This is one big shell game.

I think this is a set up.

There is a problem with this bill, it creates a state of slavery, which will violate the 14th amendment.

this will be passed those that passed the bill will then take it to court and get amnesty and path to citizenship via court ruling instead of legislation.

The more complex the problem, the more simple the solution must be.

It is an axiom as old as the hills. And you won’t find a problem more complex than immigration. If these lawmakers don’t follow that golden rule the outcome is destined to fail.
