Thumbs up Allowing JUDGES To Do Their JOB!!!

THIS is long-overdue!!!!!

Quote:

"The American Legislative Exchange Council was a driving force behind moves to impose tougher sentences and inflate the U.S. prison population. But on Monday, the conservative, corporate-backed group adopted model legislation that would reform draconian mandatory minimum prison sentences, according to Families Against Mandatory Minimums, which sponsored the legislation.

The ALEC Board of Directors passed a version of the Justice Safety Valve Act, a bipartisan bill introduced in both houses of Congress to give judges discretion to reduce statutory minimum sentences that impose onerous sentences for a range of drug and other crimes, FAMM Florida Project Director Greg Newburn told ThinkProgress. ALEC Legislative Director Cara Sullivan did not return an email inquiry from ThinkProgress. She did, however, tell the Daily Caller in an email response that the bill would help “ensure lengthy sentences and prison spaces are reserved for dangerous offenders, allowing states to focus their scarce public safety resources on offenders that are a real threat to the community.”

Gee.....are "conservatives" (finally) GETTING IT??!!!.....or, is this merely one more hustle to increase Republicans' minority-membership?

I guess it's always possible their for-profit prisons are running-outta lobbying-buck$.

Ow, all the colours are hurting my head.
Can you make your writing any more of a pain to read?

Also, can you put that in laymans terms.

I have to agree. What's the reason for the colors? It's annoying.
Thanks from excalibur

Quote from my engineering professor. "Only someone who doesn't know what their talking about, can't put things in terms so others can understand."
Grant it, he was talking about explaining a new engine to a non-engineer.

I once discribed an entire process of what I'd been learning. Programing, creation, etc. Until I realized the person I was talking to was just smiling and nodding. So I said "I played with 'legos' and made them do robot stuff."

If you truly know what you're talking about, you can make it simple. If you can't... You don't know enough to debate something.

"With Holder In The Lead..."
August 7, 2013

*

"Sit down with the attorney general to ask him about his priorities, , and he'll talk about voting rights and national security. But if you listen a bit longer, Eric Holder gets to this: "I think there are too many people in jail for too long, and for not necessarily good reasons."

This is the nation's top law enforcement officer calling for a sea change in the criminal justice system. And he's not alone."

All the White-Wingers had BETTER divest themselves of all their private-prison investments!!!

. . . . .

I wonder where the mandatory sentences came from? I wonder what the conservatives are finally getting? I know what I am getting, and that is the creation of mandatory sentences by a Democrat controlled House and Senate with a Democrat President with the Boggs Act of 1951.
