It is private citizens that are forbidden from handing food to the Homeless not the charities. The citizens are trying to make up for the slack that the charities are not following through on.
Actually, I read all of them.

Most of the situations listed in your article and article links were about handing out food in a particular location like a park. Other locations are available.

As for NYC, I'll just say that Bloomberg is an idiot. Better to have no food than too much salt in a full belly.

Since he hasn't been back to clarify yet, for my part I brought up that the "places" wherever they may be, cities or states, the charities there are run by disingenuous "do gooder" liberals/Dems. This is why the Homeless problem has grown completely out of control almost everywhere.

The liberals/Dems promise much in order to get the funding which they then embezzle, giving nothing towards housing and feeding of the Homeless. Sort of like what Dems do with everything, to steal from the people to "give to the people". Except of course they really never come through with their promises.

Dems come up with these schemes to fleece the people and misappropriate funds. Obamacare is one of those schemes, Carbon Credits is another. This is not to say that Republicans are not involved in profiting off these schemes, they are. What we really have is Republicrats playing we the people at every turn, we are their marks and they are take, take, taking from us, never intending to give back.

They've been giving entitlements to a selected block of people (to get their votes) but not to all, that is why the Homeless are left out in the cold, they are not part of that selected block getting entitlements. In fact the Dems are now starting to cut off the entitlements they had been giving to the selected block!

The libs/Dems running the Homeless charities actually need the Homeless to exist as an excuse to get the HUD millions and the various grants from foundations but they have no intention of actually using those monies to help the Homeless for which it is intended. There is no accountability on how this money is used.

This embezzlement crap and neglect of the Homeless has been going on for years but it's much worse now because of the economy and the Middle Class joining the ranks of Homeless. The neglect by the charities is so out of control that citizens have been trying to help the Homeless at least with food, but you see the response to that in the links to news stories provided on this thread, the citizens along with the Homeless are criminalized. Citizens are actually fined for "intent to feed".

So Americas Homeless are locked our of housing and now they are being starved out and all you people on this thread want to do is blame the other party. It's BOTH parties to blame, from the Dems stealing the money intended for the Homeless to the Republicans (and the Dems too) passing the laws to criminalize the Homeless.
and the 320,000 churches in this country, who pay ZERO TAXES, are taking SUCH good care of the homeless !!!!!

Didn't you read it. They were warned not to feed the homeless some were arrested and some were denied permits while others threatened with fines.

Really, and what locations are those? Obviously you know nothing about the Homeless or you would know you have to get to where the Homeless can get to because they have to (in most cases) walk there.

Regardless, you are part of the problem, not the solution when all you want to do is think of excuses to justify the situation.

Actually animals are being "euthenized" by injection and other less humane methods as we speak because so many pets are becoming Homeless when their owners lose their homes, rentals and mortgages.

Churches were starting to pay taxes during the Bush Regime, I would have to look into if they are still required to under the Obama Regime.

Another point about churches, the few (and it is very few) churches that do believe in being their brothers keeper are prevented or discouraged from doing so by new city, county and state regulations.

No they weren't. Not all all. What I think you are referring to is that churches were able to get federal monies (tax payer dollars) to help in their work for charities, and that was in fact continued under Obama. It is called the Faith Based Initiative. But they were not ever paying taxes.

Actually I used to make lunches for the homeless when I used to live in San Diego years ago. I have since bought meals for and/or split my lunch with homeless people and have no qualms about sitting and having a conversation over that meal if the person is so inclined.

I'm also aware that since so many of the facilities for the mentally ill have shut down many of these parks and recreational facilities have become unusable and sometimes dangerous for local residents.

The problem is politicians trying to keep the homeless out of sight without addressing the actual problem of homelessness. This is what happened in NYC during Guliani's administration. The homeless were pushed out of the tourist areas in Manhattan and into the residential areas in Brooklyn and Queens. The complaints of the residents being (aggressively) harrassed were then ignored.

The people who have homes have rights as well. This included NOT having homeless alcoholics urinating on the playground while your kids are trying to play.
