American teacher killed in Benghazi Libya

American teacher killed in Benghazi Libya - YouTube

American teacher Ronnie Smith has died in Benghazi, according to the Facebook page of the international school where he worked. Earlier, the U.S. State Department confirmed that a U.S. citizen had been shot and killed in the Libyan city.
"The untimely death of Ronnie Smith has been felt by the whole school community," the International School Benghazi posted on its Facebook page. "He was a much loved teacher who supported students in their learning and always had time to help when asked. Ronnie was a professional who gave his time freely and without question. We do not understand why this has happened and it is extremely difficult for his students and his colleagues to accept."

You know, you take a job in an hostile foreign country, you just have to take your chances.

I'm sorry, I just can't get too terribly upset by this situation. There's not enough money in the world to get me to return to the middle east. NOT NOW anyway. I worked there 20 years ago, right after we liberated Kuwait, they really LIKED Americans then.

Just like I don't feel the least bit sorry when missionaries get caught in these countries. THEY KNOW what they are doing is illegal, and THEY KNOW they can be arrested, imprisoned or worse.

I feel for the guy's family, but this is another non story. How many AMERICANS died today on OUR STREETS ???? 13,000 gun deaths per year, that's 36 people PER DAY that die here.

Why should we care, much less get upset over the death of one person that CHOSE to go into a hostile area ???? This is no different than some rich guy in an Armani suit, Rolex watch and an S class driving into south Chicago looking to score some drugs. When they find his body, will anyone be surprised ??? WIll we "wonder" why it happened ?? Hell no, we say "there's just no fixin' stupid" !!!

"Soon after reports broke confirming the murder of an American teacher in Benghazi, Libya, Fox News exploited reports on that crime to push the phony scandal the network has attempted to create surrounding the September 11, 2012, attacks on American diplomatic facilities in that city.

On December 5, American chemistry teacher Ronnie Smith, who worked at an international school in Benghazi, was gunned down while jogging. At the time of publication, motive for the attack remained unclear and no one had claimed responsibility.

Hours after the news broke, America's Newsroom host Martha MacCallum used a report on Smith's murder to pivot into a brief discussion of the Obama administration's response to the 2012 attacks that left U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans dead. While presenting a timeline of the 2012 attacks, MacCallum claimed "The Obama administration initially insisted that the Benghazi attack was the result of a spontaneous demonstration that had broken out over an anti-Muslim film" -- comments that echo the months-long Fox News misinformation campaign to smear the president with phony reports about his handling of the tragedy."
