Quote:

"Last August, as conservatives barnstormed the country seeking to build support for a cockamamie plan to shut down the U.S. federal government unless Congress voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act, Ted Cruz, the Texas Republican senator, said something surprisingly prescient about the president’s signature health-care law.

“President Obama wants to get as many Americans addicted to the subsidies because he knows that in modern times, no major entitlement has ever been implemented and then unwound,” he said. The worry, according to Cruz, was that once the ACA went into effect, we’d all be “addicted to the sugar.” Then, it would be too late to roll it back.

Cruz’s nightmare, and the left’s long-held dream, has come true. Finally, after years of failed reform efforts, the U.S. government is actually trying to provide affordable health coverage for all. And it’s working, despite Republicans’ relentless attempts to deep-six the law. As a result, the politics of Obamacare will never be the same.

The right’s biggest fear was never really, as Cruz’s comments revealed, that Obamacare wouldn’t succeed. It was that it would!!"

Geeeeeeeeee.....it's lookin' like the ol' tide is TURNING!!

"Putting politics over people -- that is what a group of demonstrators say is happening with the Affordable Care Act now in place.

Dozens of people protested outside the State Legislative Building calling on state leaders to stop denying North Carolinians access to coverage and demanding leaders expand Medicaid coverage. They came to tell state lawmakers that Obamacare is working, but say it could work a lot better if the General Assembly would expand Medicaid.

The group with Organizing for America, which is aligned with the White House, held an action rally Wednesday pressing Republican lawmakers to reverse their decision blocking Medicaid expansion under Obamacare.

Dana Wilson said the health care program for low-income Americans is her only hope for coverage. The North Carolina State University graduate suffers from multiple sclerosis, and her condition keeps her working full time. She had some pointed words for state lawmakers.

"I feel like it's a personal vendetta because they don't like our president, and so they just will do anything to not accept anything that has to do with him. And it's at the expense of the people of this state," Wilson said."

Really? A pro-welfare rally? Were they carrying signs that said "We Want Other People to Pay Our Way?'

no, he never posts anything of value and he constantly hijacks threads and goes off topic with his childish pictures. I think he is really about 12 years old..

back to the topic--it is disgraceful the way veterans are treated.

"A 30-year-old New York City resident can buy coverage from Health Republic, a startup nonprofit insurer, for $307 per month. A similar policy from Aetna costs $528 per month71 percent more. Both are “bronze”-level plans with $3,000 deductibles and similar cost-sharing rules. Why are the price tags so far apart?

Talking to analysts last week, Aetna Chief Executive Officer Mark Bertolini described some co-op prices as “irrational.” He noted that Aetna “actually withdrew from those markets as we were asked to meet co-op rating.” UnitedHealth CEO Stephen Hemsley made a similar observation earlier this month about the small group market in New York. “We believe several carriers there, including new entrants, are pricing well below cost, and what we would view as unsustainable pricing levels,” he told analysts.

Co-op proponents make the opposite argument. While Health Republic declined to comment Monday, Martin Hickey, chairman of the trade group for co-ops, says they can offer better prices because they don’t have to build profits into their prices. Large national insurers “have shareholders, and they have to generate a return,” says Hickey, who is also chief executive of the co-op New Mexico Health Connections.

“The problem that traditional insurers are having right now is they don’t know how to compete.”
