Kidnapped For Christ: Torture and abuse at Christian boarding schools

Quote:
A powerful film documenting Christian re-education camps where evangelical parents send their gay children to be tortured and abused in the hopes of making them straight premieres on Showtime tonight.

The film shines a harsh light on Christian behavioral modification programs used on gay kids and other children displaying “undesirable” behaviors.

Some evangelical parents in the U.S. are sending their children overseas to unregulated boarding schools where children are tortured and abused, often in an attempt to change their sexual orientation.

The film chronicles the controversial Escuela Caribe, a now defunct Christian behavior-modification program in the Dominican Republic for “troubled” U.S. teenagers.

“Kidnapped For Christ” is a documentary which follows a young evangelical filmmaker who is granted unprecedented access to a Christian boarding school in the Dominican Republic for troubled US teens that bills itself as a rehabilitation center. There she discovers the shocking secrets of the behavior modification program that is being forced upon students who have been kidnapped with their parents’ permission, and she makes it her mission to free a young man who will change her life.

The compelling documentary follows the experiences of several American teenagers after they were kidnapped from their homes and shipped to Evangelical Reform schools located in the Dominican Republic. Many of these teenagers’ parents discover their children are either gay or experience same-sex attraction, and are sent to “therapeutic Christian boarding school[s]” in order to “transform into healthy Christian adults” in an environment outside of U.S. law.

Someone who has a son who resists curative therapy for homosexuality should be sent overseas and castrated. I wouldn't recommend boarding school.

just for the record, this does not premier tonight on Showtime - it's been airing since July, and you can see it On Demand.

it's a real eye-opener to the horrors parents are willing to pay to put their children through

I really, really hope you get the chance to live in a city, or country or best of all a universe where everyone is exactly like you. That's about as bad a curse as I can think of to wish on someone.

You seem awfully bitter. Is this what happened to you?

Really??? They PURPOSELY hook these kids up with pedophiles!!! That's outrageous and a matter you need to bring to the police straight away. If you don't...you are as bad as those pedophiles.....

Anyone out there disagree????

Why would someone resist curative therapy for their son? Why send the parent overseas for a gelding vacation? How odd.....queer, even.

That's worded a little more inflammatory than what it is.

They hire prostitutes and the teens are forced to have sex with the prostitutes.

I'm not condoning it - don't get me wrong! - but in some of these countries, it's not looked on as it is here - the kids at 14-19 are already married in these countries, so it's not looked as child molestation.

It really isn't clear to me who he is proposing to send overseas. It seems that he might be talking about the parents. However, my first impression was that he was proposing this for the resistant child and just expressed himself very poorly. That really fits better with what I know about this guy from his posts.

My take is he is pretty far to the right of the right.
