Mothers of unarmed young black men killed by police rally in D.C.

"Mothers from around the country who say their unarmed sons were shot and killed by police shared their painful stories to a packed house and called for change."

“If people sit back and do nothing, it’ll continue to happen,” Elliott said.

“Maybe not in my lifetime, but they’re fighting this cause. They’re out there every day, hoping that we will bring about change.” said Hopkins.

Yeah, change is definitely needed. Yeah, doing nothing will result in......nothing changing. But are you thinking what I'm thinking? It isn't the government that needs "change" here. It isn't the police that need to be "fixed." No, it's the young black men that need change. It's the black community that needs fixing. Why don't these mothers address family issues? Why don't they take some of the blame here? Why don't they own up to their responsibility in raising these men?

I know why! Because it's seven million times easier to blame someone else. Passing the buck is always way more convenient than some honest inward reflection.

Are there some problems with the police in this country? Of course. But these issues pale in comparison to the issues within the black community and among the families themselves. Work on the family, then and only then can we address the other stuff.

"Unarmed Black Men" would be a great name for a rap music group.

well said! it's so much easier to blame someone else. maybe if Michael brown's mother taught him not to steal or attack cops he would still be alive. maybe it would help if these ghetto women would stop having 10 kids by 8 different baby-daddies to get more welfare. I bet it would help if these baby-daddies actually stuck around and fathered their children and provided for them. maybe it would help if they didn't commit crimes in front of their kids or teach them how. maybe it would help if these kids didn't grow up in a house with drugs and domestic violence. but no, it's the cops fault and whitey's fault. of course it is, silly me.

I watched the affair. Not once did I hear anyone of them say, the basic responsibility lies within the Black community.

It hasn't escaped my notice that black and interracial families that actually do retain a functional, honest dynamic...thrive. My nephew (a white guy lawyer) married a black lady lawyer...and they have kids at the top of their classes...that are respectful and quite aware of this whole (discussed) social dynamic.

Education and a keen respect for those around you are essentials NOT being instilled in all too many minority families. No daddy around. Multiple births by multiple "unknowns"...abortions aplenty...no school...no job...no ambition...no accounting for life.

You'd figure Obama (et "Al") would be some sort of role model. Well...yeah...for keeping the self-appointed apartheid in place.........

Shameful....

Deaths of Black men.

Police 128 last year

Number one cause of death of Black men between the ages of 15 and 40 are OTHER BLACK MEN ages 15-40.

This is not about saving the lives of black men if so the community would start cleaning up it's own.

Officers killed in the line of duty 49...

NUFF SAID.
Thanks from roastpork and Raconteur
