Now More Than Ever We Should Stand With Mayor Bill DeBlasio

Addicting Info ? Now More Than Ever, We Should Stand With Mayor Bill de Blasio

If a Republican mayor had done what Bill de Blasio is doing, it is an undeniable fact that Republicans would:

A) Use this as a way to show they somehow care about race relations.

Use this as a way to show they are standing up to “big government forces” that abuse their power.

C) And pat him (or her) on the back for standing up to union “thugs.”

However, because Bill de Blasio is a Democrat, conservatives all across the nation are now all-of-a-sudden standing up and supporting police unions, embracing illegal and abusive tactics perpetrated by government employees, and dividing a city that elected their mayor with a landslide victory of 74%. I guess the “will of the people” only applies to midterm elections.

Yesterday, thousands of police officers turned what was supposed to be a solemn and honorable service for their fallen brothers into a disgusting spectacle when they decided to turn their backs on Mayor de Blasio to show that they are above the law and answer to no one. The NYPD, in its largest capacity, showed zero respect for authority while demanding, in the most distasteful way, that the rest of us show respect for theirs.

It is ironic that these police officers feel they have been abandoned by their mayor, considering New York City feels abandoned by them! That is one of the biggest reasons why de Blasio won in the first place. He made the ending of “Stop and Frisk,” a stain on civil liberties, one of his campaign centerpieces, and promised to crack down on illegal and abusive police tactics which have blatantly targeted blacks and other minority races. So after all these campaign promises, de Blasio wins, and surprise: he actually delivers on his promises to clean up NYPD tactics. A politician who delivers on his campaign promises? Revolutionary. No wonder the NYPD hates him. They thought he was just another politician who was all talk. Giuliani and Bloomberg let their abuses slide. Nope, not de Blasio. Turns out he means business.

And now, we’re supposed to take seriously the vile and deplorable things that have come out of Pat Lynch’s mouth. The leader of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association of New York had the audacity to ask de Blasio not to attend the funerals of fallen officers, while asking him show them respect. Perhaps if Lynch had kept a tighter leash on officer Pantaleo, this whole mess could have been avoided in the first place. But in his mind, the police do no wrong, and the big mean Mayor doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

Now let’s take a minute and figure out where this character assassination of de Blasio perpetrated by the NYPD started. Oh wait, I know where it started. Mayor de Blasio dared to mention is mix-race son, Dante, and the very real threat of what he might face as a black man at the hands of law enforcement during a press conference at a Staten Island church, saying:

This is profoundly personal for me. I was at the White House the other day, and the president of the United States turned to me, and he met Dante a few months ago, and he said that Dante reminded him of what he looked like as a teenager. And he said, I know you see this crisis through a very personal lens. I said to him I did. Because Chirlane and I have had to talk to Dante for years, about the dangers he may face. A good young man, a law-abiding young man, who would never think to do anything wrong, and yet, because of a history that still hangs over us, the dangers he may face—we’ve had to literally train him, as families have all over this city for decades, in how to take special care in any encounter he has with the police officers who are there to protect him.

Because of his son, and because of the color of his skin, the NYPD lashed out, creating this divide between the police and the mayor’s office. How dare a mayor, who happens to be white, talk about the very real divide in race relations with his black son. How dare a mayor, who is the mayor of ALL citizens, find it grotesque and unsettling that one of his citizens, an innocent man, was killed in an illegal chokehold and no one was punished for it. How dare this mayor stand up against Stop and Frisk, a practice that has been ruled unconstitutional because of its blatant racial biases. The NYPD finds it so unnerving, so jarring and so blasphemous that a mayor can call them out when they do wrong, that they are the ones accusing HIM of having “blood on his hands.”

The Daily Beast said it perfectly in their article defending de Blasio:

So two decades’ worth of statistics tell us that black men are killed by police at 21 times the rate white men are, and yet half the public has persuaded itself that police treat blacks and whites no differently. And it’s controversial for a mayor with a black 16-year-old son to say something so obvious—indeed, what every parent of a black son has to say.

And that’s dividing the city? And Pat Lynch, by speaking of officers’ blood on the steps of City Hall and urging his cops to sign an online petition that de Blasio not attend their funerals should they be killed in the line of duty, is doing… what? His behavior is divisive to the point of savagery. He is actively trying to make the people who follow.

For once in my life, I think I support busting a union. Pat Lynch is the perfect definition of a thug.

A popularly elected mayor with 74% of the vote. That isn't nonsense. The fact that you think the city is going to turn on him and call for another Giuliani to be elected. Now that's nonsense. This isn't going to turn out well for the NYPD union thugs.

In your backward view of the world no doubt. Your problem is the rest of the world doesn't share your backward view, nor the majority of those who voted for him. People like DeBlasio have a very bright future in politics with the changing demographics of the country who admire his diverse family. Now losers like Giuliani on the other hand, they're done. Not to mention police union thugs on departments across the country. But on the Liberal view of things, we appreciate your undying support for law enforcement. It will now become that much easier to deal with white militia groups and scofflaws like Cliven Bundy in the future. You have now painted yourself into a corner where you won't be able to cry foul when it starts happening. Keep that support coming now.

Don't get out much do you. Even minorities are smart enough to know that pissing off the police department isn't a smart thing to do.
"The changing demographics"? Is that your way of saying the American culture is going to be replaced? It doesn't get much more racist than that statement.

Is the Chief appointed by the Mayor? Should the Mayor have shown up at the funeral? I watched video of the funeral, it wasn't just a few that turned their backs, it was practically all of them. The message to both the Mayor and the Chief was loud and clear. I suspect that message was is supported by the citizens of NY.

The mayor was received quite well by the graduating class of police cadets this morning. The only scofflaws seem to be Giuliani, and the head of the PBA Lynch, who are both now receiving heavy criticism from other officers both active and retired. Your pipe dream of the mayor being hated by the citizens of NY, and not having support in NYPD just isn't happening. In the end the mayor is going to come out on top. and the loud mouths in the police union aren't. Much to your dismay. What's more important is police departments across the country are changing their tactics as a result of the shootings of unarmed black men, and they are reaching out to the communities they serve. Not conservative hate groups who wish that things remain the same. As usual, you're on the wrong side of history, and the wrong side of the issue, as we will enter into 2015 with both the mayor and the President receiving higher approval ratings, and conservatives haters continuing their slide into obscurity. Soon we will see these hate groups gathering in the basements of their homes and churches, because that will be the only place they will have any relevance.
