The Right Wing's Endless War on Environmental Regulation

The Right Wing's Endless War on Environmental Regulation*|*Steven Cohen

Quote:
. . .

As Davenport and others have reported, the interest group reaction to EPA's new rule has been intense. The American Farm Bureau Federation believes it will reduce the value of farmland dramatically. The usual ideologues are making the usual noises about big, intrusive government and job-killing regulations. Some time down the road (or should I say downstream?) when we all end up paying additional billions to treat our drinking water and clean up toxic wetlands and waterways, these same special interests will complain about wasteful government spending.

Environmental protection is typically about smaller costs up front, at least when compared to huge costs once pollution has occurred and remediation must take place. It's pay me now or pay me later. Cleaning up the oil spilling into the ocean by Santa Barbara will cost much more than preventing the leak would have cost. But of course, preventing the leak would require more "overreaching by government" and "job-killing regulations."

. . .
No where is the uneducated right wing more exposed than in environmental issues. They have NO idea about ecology and biology and the interdependence of all this nature in this world. This is where the ignorance shines the brightest; and it will end up killing us all with toxins.

What? You mean the programs that help the poor, keep disease from spreading in a country, feed hungry people, help sick and war torn veterans? THOSE pollutions? the same ones that Christ commanded the world to take care of? THOSE pollutants? What are you? Anti-life?

I suppose you and the Huffington Post will explain ecology and biology to the courts that have been knocking down the EPA's overreach?

Low? You are the one bashing "socialist" governments for helping the poor and taking care of the needy. I bet they take care of their soldiers, too, and I bet they don't send them out on 5 and 6 tours of a war which is not supposed to end. You don't like the analogy of a "socialist" government doing what christ commanded ALL Christians to do, don't bash "socialist" government.

Tell me. What has your Capitalist government done for the poor lately? The political corporate cult of the revived Christian Reconstruction movement?
