Mitch McConnell Rand Paul Humiliated Senate Votes To Advance USA Freedom Act

Mitch McConnell Humiliated And Rand Paul Loses As Senate Votes To Advance USA Freedom Act

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) wanted to extend the Patriot Act while Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) wanted to kill both the Patriot Act and USA Freedom Act. Both Republicans lost as the Senate voted 77-17 to advance the USA Freedom Act.

In the end, the message to voters is clear. Republicans can’t govern without creating a crisis or a circus. McConnell and Paul both lost, and worst of all, most of the government’s spying programs will be back up and running by the middle of the week.

Spoiler Alert:

Mitch thought he could flex his muscles.

Seems to me as if quite a few Democrats are on board with the spying program. Unless there are 77 Republicans in the Senate. And Obama wants it renewed.

Ron Paul is God.

Rand is the Son of God down in the muck with the sinners, tax collectors, lawyers and whores of the U.S. Senate shining a light of freedom.

They can't guide and direct. They are into the drama mama chaos their lesser base loves. I'm sure their TRUE base just wants the money to start flowing again.

Yep., Mitch got his bill. Rand made his campaign issue on which to stand.

Tinker Bell Paul just showed the country why he's unqualified to be President. He used a filibuster on a national security bill he knew he couldn't stop for reasons of personal political gain. It will backfire big time. In this Citizens United country we live in, billionaires are King and Tinker Bell just cut his own throat.......again.

The BBC and the CBC see this differently. They see it as Rand scoring a win by getting the Patriot Act to expire though it will be replaced by something that is still bad but isn't quite as repressive.

Republican presidential hopeful Rand Paul blocked a Patriot Act extension and it lapsed at midnight (04:00 GMT).
