Boehner Ducks Offer To Negotiate A Way Around A Shutdown

Boehner Ducks Offer To Negotiate A Way Around A Shutdown

Quote:
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) declined Thursday to address Democratic offers to negotiate a budget that avoids the threat of a government shutdown in the fall.

President Barack Obama has threatened to veto the 12 annual spending bills that Congress is still working on because they boost military spending while leaving in place the steep cuts of 2011's sequestration deal for domestic programs.

Senate Democrats have insisted they will block those bills until Republicans start negotiating with them to even out the cuts and spending, and include some of the president's and Democrats' priorities.

Their argument has been that it's better to hold talks now, before funding expires at the end of September, than to risk a government shutdown.

Asked at his weekly news conference if there was a downside to starting talks now, Boehner declined to answer directly, but insisted he would keep following the GOP's plan of passing bills that ignore Democrats' concerns about the GOP budget.
These republicans are not leaders. These republicans are not statesmen. they are employees for corporations and they will make sure their rich get richer. They serve at the alter of money, power and greed. They are not even interested in representing the concerns of Americans anymore.

This is why it's do ridiculous for Right wingers and some in the media to say both sides in Congress are guilty of intransigence. The Republicans go out of their way to create fiscal cliffs and crisis. They claim that business needs certainty and then they do this. Personally, I think another Republican lick at their shutdown crap will remind the country why Hillary is the better choice. Let the fools hang themselves.

They definitely work from an agenda that benefits the upper 0.01%. Those guys own homes all over and could care less if the US falls flat on its face.

Your right. The security of the U.S. should be of no concern to anyone. This government in general, shows no concern. No foreign country will bring us down. We will do it to ourselves. Our House is divided.

Exactly. Republicans refuse to fund Homeland Security, to declare war on ISIS and fund that war....refuse to write any immigration bill that would fund the border patrols....pathetic excuse for elected officials, really. All they do is work for corporations and the MIC.
