Anchor Babies are a farce there is no such thing!

They are simply the children of people committing a crime being here!

There are no longer any recently freed Negro slaves giving birth, nor are there any babies of imported Chinese laborers working on the railroads. Thus there is no longer a need for a 14th amendment. A child should not be a considered a citizen unless he, (that's a universal use of he, which includes she's, for all you rabid feminists out there), is born to a citizen, period, end of story, anything else is lunacy and just plain stupidity!
Thanks from Patriot66

I kinda like the 14th Amendment. It's not just about immigration. I like the part about equal protection under the law. I think that's rather important. Section 5 clearly gives congress the authority to act. We just need a congress with the political will power to do so.

If diplomats and temporary imported labor can be exempted, then so can anyone not here legally. The problem is easily solvable. That congress hasn't acted tell us where the root of the problem lies.

Immigration laws are totally up to congress. There is NOTHING in the Constitution that states a person is automatically a citizen for being born here if parents are not citizens. That's a lie. Also, the USA and Canada are the only nations that allow citizenship by birth with parents who aren't citizens.

Not all of the 14th Amendment IMHO is bad, only the part that ensures that if one is born here they are automatically a citizen for life-that is just illogical, and stupid.

Absolutely !!!!!! I'm no constitutional scholar, but the way I read it, says congress gets to decide who can and can't claim birthright citizenship.

I would argue that since an illegal hasn't applied for citizenship, and likewise hasn't renounced their allegiance to their home country, like a diplomat they are still full citizens of their country. They are therefore not eligible to claim the birthright for their children.

See my other comment. I don't see the 14th as guaranteeing citizenship.

The Supreme Court does though, and they ruled so, unanimously, (I think), twice.
