drugs are illegal under sharia. the positive test might have earned her a flogging.

but she was pregnant to her 'boyfriend' which indicates they are not married. if she was still married and pregnant to a different man, thats adultery and they both get stoned to death. but luckily she is divorced, so the crime is fornication. thats a public flogging for both of them. after that they are forced to get married whether they want to or not.

thats what sharia gives them.

a rough rule of thumb - regardless of how unfair or unreasonable a situation is in a western democracy, its always worse under sharia.
Well, let's look at this in the US. We don't have Sharia law. What we have here is the born again evangelical dominionist group pushing laws that punish women who are pregnant. THAT'S the reality of this. Knock off women's rights to do this, which did not nor could cause harm to the baby per the medical field, and you have the Born Again Evangelical god's law above a woman's right.

Man, I don't think even Sharia LAWS would do this.
another epic stupid thread by LW. was this woman turned into a felon??? was she even arrested??? was her baby taken from her??? you do know it is illegal to take someone else's prescription medication--especially a controlled substance like valium??? and taking any drug while pregnant without your doctor's approval is irresponsible and stupid and dangerous.

how in the hell can you even compare this to sharia laws??? hot dragon did a fine job so I won't repeat but this woman would be lucky to be alive in a muslim country.

i suspect this was not a religiously driven law, but a genuine attempt at health care that missed the mark. it was probably intended to be a process that identifies any possible children at risk, that identifies any possible high risk pregnancies, but the process was overzealous.

and i know you dont have sharia in america. i hope you never do. just remember the price of freedom is eternal vigilance.

You are correct, she should have been incarcerated earlier...

And a vast majority of Republicans thought she was right and shouldn't have, didn't they?

What is your view of Huckabee's and Cruz's reaction to that situation?
