Did you know that most of the mass murderers in the last 25 years were either on those drugs or in withdrawal? The media never mentions it and demands gun control instead.

Dementia was always a problem with some older people. Nowadays...in the age of "medical science", MOST older people die in a state of dementia.

You are anti-science...maybe it's because you lack intelligence and education...

And what exactly is the danger of splicing plant and salamander genes? People eat salamanders, at least where you're from....people also eat plants...

How does it cause cancer???!!???

You should feel embarrassed by your comments but I doubt if you do...
Might want to read up on it yourself. Well, IF you care about your family.

A Potential Danger of Genetic Modification - The Atlantic

Quote:
This study had nothing to do with genetically modified (GM) food, but it could have implications on that front. The work shows a pathway by which new food products, such as GM foods, could influence human health in previously unanticipated ways.

Monsanto's website states, "There is no need for, or value in testing the safety of GM foods in humans." This viewpoint, while good for business, is built on an understanding of genetics circa 1960. It follows what's called the "Central Dogma" of genetics, which postulates a one-way chain of command between DNA and the cells DNA governs.

The Central Dogma resembles the process of ordering a pizza. The DNA codes for the kind of pizza it wants, and orders it. The RNA is the order slip, which communicates the specifics of that pizza to the cook. The finished and delivered pizza is analogous to the protein that DNA codes for.

We've known for decades that the Central Dogma, though basically correct, is overly simplistic. For example: MiRNAs that don't code for anything, pizza or otherwise, travel within cells silencing genes that are being expressed. So while one piece of DNA is ordering a pizza, it could also be bombarding the pizzeria with RNA signals that can cancel the delivery of other pizzas ordered by other bits of DNA.

Researchers have been using this phenomena to their advantage in the form of small, engineered RNA strands that are virtually identical to miRNA. In a technique called RNA interference, or RNA knockdown, these small bits of RNA are used to turn off, or "knock down," certain genes.

RNA knockdown was first used commercially in 1994 to create the Flavor Savr, a tomato with increased shelf life. In 2007, several research teams began reporting success at engineering plant RNA to kill insect predators, by knocking down certain genes. As reported in MIT's Technology Review on November 5, 2007, researchers in China used RNA knockdown to make:

...cotton plants that silence a gene that allows cotton bollworms to process the toxin gossypol, which occurs naturally in cotton. Bollworms that eat the genetically engineered cotton can't make their toxin-processing proteins, and they die.

Genetically modified foods: Ari Laux's alarmism in the Atlantic

You need to read the evolution of the discovery that GMO foods are indeed dangerous to us and that the corporations lied about those facts to us.

You're a republican. Likened it to the hated tobacco industry/democratic party fund raiser and the effects cigarettes had on humans.

The article was the ending of trying to say it wasn't harmful and has spurred on scientific studies refuting it.

YOu need to think outside the "free markets" can kill us so long as they make a profit mentality and start caring about children.

For more than 40 industrialized nations -- including countries such as Australia, Brazil, China, Russia, and Spain -- the question of whether or not to identify and label GMOs is a no-brainer. When asked how Europeans handle GMO labeling, a European colleague of mine -- not surprisingly -- laughed as she wisely said, "You Americans can make such a big deal out of nothing. In Europe, this is a very easy question to answer: Research has consistently shown that it is bad for you, so we stopped using it."

What she meant is that GMO labeling is a requirement in Europe. Because well-informed Europeans do not want to eat GMOs, they simply stopped buying them. The same food companies -- such as Nestle, Kraft and Hershey, the ones pouring millions of dollars into defeating the ballot in California -- Do not use GMOs in the European food market. Period.

The Link Between GMOs and Disease

In 2008, I read a report on NaturalNews.com -- an online magazine -- about a condition called Morgellons disease. The symptoms of this "unknown" disease included: crawling, stinging, biting, and crawling sensations; threads or black speck-like materials on or beneath the skin; and granules or lesions. Some patients reported fatigue, short-term memory loss, mental confusion, joint pain, and changes in vision.

The condition was initially dismissed, but the disease was later reported as being "possibly" real and a link to genetically-modified food was suggested; however, the CDC classified Morgellons disease as being of unknown origin and left the patients suffering from it and the surrounding community wondering what to do.

A research study was finally run on fiber samples taken from Morgellons patients. [7] It was discovered that, although the fiber samples of all the patients looked remarkably similar, they did not seem to match any common environmental fiber. But when the fiber was broken down and its DNA extracted, it became apparent that it belonged to a fungus. The fibers were found to contain Agrobacterium: a genus gram-negative bacteria with the capacity to transform plant, animal, and even human cells.

Morgellons disease is not the only condition associated with genetically-modified foods. Allergies, liver problems, sterility and overall immune-compromising disorders have all been linked to GMO foods. [2] Experiments conducted on genetically-modified food show that genetic material in genetically-modified food product can transfer into the DNA of intestinal bacteria and still continue to thrive. [1]

Even Monsanto Scientists Won't Touch That Stuff!

A few months ago, I read an article by best-selling writer and filmmaker Jeffrey Smith. Mr. Smith is the executive director of the Institute for Responsible Technology. In his article entitled "Just Say No to GMOs: Sowing the Seeds of Deception," Smith writes that an ex-Monsanto scientist revealed to him that, due to the results of tests on milk from cows injected with genetically engineered bovine growth hormone (rbGH), three of his colleagues refused to drink milk again unless it was organic. [1] Why? Because Insulin-like Growth Factor (IGF-1) is well-known for causing cancer and the scientists were well aware that IGF-1 was found on rbGH: The very hormone they inject into the milk-producing cows.
When those doing the poisoning refuse to eat and drink it, that should be a red flag for you.

Course, this is America. You want to die and kill your family along with it, so be it. For many of us, not letting corporations kill us off so they can control our food supply is a no brainer.
