Nato Ally shoots down Russian Plane.

Turkey shoots down Russian warplane on Syrian border - Al Jazeera English

Quote:
Turkey has shot down a Russian warplane on the Syrian border, a senior Turkish official told Al Jazeera.

The official said plane was shot down on Tuesdsay by the Turkish military according to the rules of engagement because it violated Turkish airspace.

Reports said the plane crashed in Syrian territory in Latakia's Yamadi village.

The Turkish president's office identified the warplane as Russian and said it was warned before being shot down, according to the semi-official Anadolou agency.

The Russian defence ministry has acknowledged that an Su-24 fighter jet crashed in Syria as a result of an attack from the ground.

A Turkish military statement said the plane violated Turkish airspace in Hatay province and was warned "10 times in five minutes".

This is another good development. The Paris attacks got Europe off their asses. The downing of the Russian airliner turned Russia away from bombing the anti-Assad forces and redirected their bombs toward ISIS. Now we have the duplicitous Turkey in a tough spot. They've allowed ISIS to use their border for their war aims. They've spent their time bombing the Kurds instead of ISIS. Turkey has been very arrogant even though they are supposedly a NATO member. Now they foolishly shoot down a Russian jet. If they wish to receive NATO protection, their arrogance will have to end. We have them on blended knee now. This is excellent news IMO.

Just know that Putin wanted this to happen.

Russian pilot killed by rebels, second missing: Syria opposition

One Russian pilot of a warplane downed by Turkey over Syria on Tuesday was killed by rebels and the second is missing after they both parachuted, rebel and opposition sources said.

A Russian helicopter was also hit and damaged by rebel fire in the same area of northern Syria, a monitoring group said, but it was able to land in government-held territory.

The sources told AFP that the first pilot was killed by opposition forces who shot at him as he landed after ejecting from the plane.

Several videos circulating online and shared on opposition social media sites purported to show the dead pilot surrounded by rebels from different factions.

Fadi Ahmed, a spokesman for the First Coastal Front rebel group, said "the Russian pilot was killed by gunfire as he fell with his parachute" in the Jabal Turkman area of Latakia province on the coast.

"The 10th Brigade (rebel group) transferred the body of the dead Russian to the local rebel joint operations room," added Omar Jablawi, a media activist working with rebels in the area.

He declined to specify exactly where the joint operations room was located.

The sources said rebels were still searching for the second Russian pilot of the Su-24 aircraft, which Ankara said was downed by Turkish forces after violating its territory.

The fighters on the ground in Northwest Syria executed one of the Russian pilots before his parachute brought him to the ground. Turkey better kiss our ass thoroughly if they think the U.S. and NATO are going to save their asses for this one.

And how are we gonna save their asses? Why would we? Turkey needs to man up and simply be apologetic.
