Canada PM says ready to renegotiate NAFTA with Trump

Canada PM says ready to renegotiate NAFTA with Trump

Quote:

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Thursday he is willing to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which US President-elect Donald Trump has said he wants to change or scrap.

During the campaign, Trump called NAFTA the worst trade deal the United States has ever signed, while proposing protectionist measures to repatriate American jobs lost to free trade.

"I think it's important that we be open to talking about trade deals," Trudeau -- a fierce defender of free trade, which helps bolster the Canadian economy -- told reporters.

"If the Americans want to talk about NAFTA, I'm more than happy to talk about it," he said, adding that it was important to periodically reassess trade deals to ensure that they continue to be of benefit to Canadians.

There will never be a wall on the Canada and America border because we have too much in common. Thank goodness that Canada is coming around to see things our way and Trump will finish the Canada oil pipeline.

By 'renegotiate' they mean dismantle.

NAFTA won't be around in a year's time. Thank God(Emperor Trump).

Renegotiate does not mean dismantle by any sense of the word. Mexico makes beautiful painted clay flower pots and Trump will allow that Producto de Mexico allowed in without a tariff.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if this new NAFTA completely screws Mexico if they don't play ball with Trump.

Canada, Mexico and the US need to be fair, focused, and promoting good trade between the nations. Just the cost of transportation of goods, means better prices for all 3 nations. We have for more problems from Mexico, with it's import to the US of illegals and all those they allow to cross their nation to enter here illegally. Get that stopped first, then we will see better trade etc.

Paul Ryan made it clear today, the Congress is ready to control our borders, including the problems with overstaying Visa's and the disappearance of Visa holders. Then we will see how willing Mexico is to allow those from other nations use it's land to cross and come here.

Dear Colonel, NAFDA has made the Great Lakes region a rust belt due to cheap overseas labor. The tide goes out and comes in and the tide is coming in.
